I think I have solved the "DISAPPEARING PLAYERS" syndrome

Okay....this is the 3rd attempt to post this thread, the first time I typed the entire thread only to see the DSL go out...then the second time I typed the entire thread, and I was going to copy it just in case, instead I pasted over it and lost it. So I'm on the edge here!
Anyways...I had a player dissappear on me, and I think I got it now...I did a 2 for 2 trade, I was giving up 1 mlb player, and 1 HM player...I was getting 2 mlb players (one with options). Everytime I made the trade, one of the players dissappeared. Here's what I did, send someone down that has options before you make the trade, then execute the trade, now you have the extra roster spot open which allows both mlb players to be placed on your roster. Then I sent the newly acquisitioned player with options down and brought the original guy back up that I originally sent down inorder to make the trade. Works everytime! I think this is the case with all trades that may put an extra player on your active roster...be sure to save before the trade so you can work through it if need be. Now to my next problem,
I traded an OF so I needed to replace him or the Roster Analysis screen will go ape [censored]...So I thought I would replace him with the new player I traded for who was a LF / UT guy. I figured he could play LF and any other spot I needed since he was also a Utility guy. So once I make the trade....my backup middle infielder who was a UT guy also moves to the OF and the new LF / UT guy only plays LF, which leaves me in need of a backup MIF!
The Roster Analysis screen is my worst enemy, in my opinion, it's the worst addition to ASB! It has single handedly F'd up 3 trades I have made, including this brilliant trade I most recently pulled the trigger on. Why wouldn't the new guy who is a LF / UT guy play all the OF spots, and then my other UT guy could continue to play the MIF like he has all season long?

Agreed. What I did as my workaround was put everyone on the DL that is supposed to be. Then sign all FA's to appropriate teams. Then I had space to drop players in FA pool. Works fine, but painful to do this for every team. I am wating on the new rosters before I start and plan to test HH this weekend!

Roster Analysis screen is my bane too. At least they could have let us edit it to decide who is the back up at each position...I bet that ASB will let you edit it next year!

I noticed that was you're saying works because I kept getting screwed by players disappearing, but all you basically have to do is make sure that you have enough slots open...whether it be in the MLB, HM, or LM...just make sure you have the open slots!

Re: I think I have solved the \"DISAPPEARING PLAYERS\" syndrome

I hope this works. Last night I made a trade Nixon, Gomes for Ichiro, Bloomquist and Ichiro was inactive. I could not firgure out how to activate him. He wasn't on my roster management screen but he was on the transaction screen. So out of curiosity, I simed the rest of the season to see what happens. Ichiro never played a game. It was the last year of his contract so I figured that he would be a FA. No luck. I think he is still inactive on my roster without a contract.
So does anyone know how to activate a player or do I have to clear my roster before I trade like nikeford said????

This happens to me alot too. But if the players dissapear I just re-create them. It's sort of a pain since you lose their age and salary points. But other then that it's ok...
