this may seem sad..but why am I scared to play the yankees?
im 25-7 in my franchise with the mariners..last 10 games is 9-1, but whenever I start a series with the yankees I get pretty worried, im basically worried because any pitch I throw could be a bomb and spread the game open, I guess it just makes me play better but damn these guys are so dangerous it doesnt matter what team you are..Tags: None -

Play the odds...switch pitchers so that it's in your favor (lefty v. lefty, etc), also, I've found a fresh pitcher is usually better than a tired one. Also, if there are two men on base, why not intentionally walk? Yes, it may give up a grand slam, but it also may give you more options for force outs. Of course, I wouldn't recommend intentionally walking to get to Bernie Williams, but the entire team isn't capable of blasting every pitch out.
Also, one other thing is try pitching really high and inside to defend against homers. They may hit some, but most of the times, it will jam them and they won't get a lot of power behind it and it doesn't allow them to extend their arms and get all their power behind it.
Try all that and see what happens.Comment

Re: this may seem sad..but why am I scared to play the yankees?
I feel your pain!
I play the Braves in my franchise and I get worried about playing the Phillies, they started 6-0 and I am getting ready to start a 3-game series in Philly after work. I noticed that on all the games that I have ever played I step up to the plate so to speak against the big dogs. I pay more attention to pitch counts and defensive alignments and I pitch accordingly. But then I get swept by the Marlins so what the heck do I know. I know it's a video game, but trust in yourself and in your ability don't get beaten by mistakes. Play hard, but not aggressive and play to win. Hit the cut-off man, hit and run, paint the corners, play the infield back, defense-defense-defense. Have patience at the plate, foul pitches off, bunt, hit behind the runner, get your leadoff man on in every inning. I think that's it, most of all have fun it's only a game!!"A two count is routine. You kick out at two if you aren’t done. Kicking out at one is a MESSAGE. It says NO in capital letters. A middle finger. A promise that the other man is going to have to kill you if they’re going to put you down." ~ Brandon StroudComment
