    pulling outfielders IN

has anyone noticed that if you pull the outfielders in, for almost every at bat, you can eliminate the little bloopers that tend to start rallies ... i have this one pitcher that i want to go through the season with GREAT numbers and i always do it with him ... but it makes me feel bad cause i want things to be realistic ...

but now i'm finding that i bring em in when other pithcers bat too!! i mean, if you can get your defenders in better position, why not, right?!

sometimes, you'll get the OCCASIONAL deep drive to the warning track, but for the most part, you can drop back in time to snag those too!!

Yep, I do/did that too. At first I used the "slap" outfield alignment, but was still giving up bloopers, so I just completely brought the entire outfield in and the bloopers disappeared. Definitely something that needs to be worked on for next year.

? what do you expect Outfield in to do? Of course you'll catch bloopers.

Every team would do this except for the fact that there's a great chance you'll give up a long drive to the track and you'll end up chasing a ball you should've caught.

If you are gettin to the ball before it hits the ground, even on deep drives, and the CPU continues to hit bloopes then you are doin a good job of pitching.

i agree, i've found that challenging the poor hitters helps to cut down on the bloops. most of em seem to come on good pitches that nip the corners. staying further inside the zone and mixing speeds usually gets these bums to hit routine outs.

Leave the fielders where they are. Pitching in this game is easy enough (except strikeouts) how much easier do you want it? My team ERA with the "TIGERS" is 2.50 (on all star) and would be lower if not for the first couple weeks of the season. I don't score a lot of runs so the games are still competitive.
