The guy looks like a douche....now i have to see him almost all the time?

Seriously, I think he's a pretty good ballplayer who is one of those guys that seems to play better then their stats seem to indicate. Nice to see the Yankees go for a guy who isn't a super huge big name but can get the job done.

This thread has about 0% chance of staying open.

On the off chance you're right, then it's an average move. I could hate Swisher even more than I did on the White Sox.

He's right. The Yankees acquired Nick Swisher from the White Sox for minor league pitcher Jeff Marquez. It's not yet known if other players are involved.

            Wow, Seriously?

Major props to thread starter. I doubted, I was wrong.

As for the trade, um...why? The White Sox only had him one year, and he didn't play that bad. They better get some good value back.

Some one needs to tell the Yankees they need pitching not bats!

Swisher plays 1B right? If so, then the move makes perfect sense as I don't see Mr. Giambi being there in '09.

It may involve other minor leaguers according to Jon Heyman, he also mentions Betimet as possibly being involved.

Swish had a poor, poor year in Chicago. They brought him in w/ high expectations, and his bat just stunk...He still showed some pop, but only hit .219.

He does play good defense though, and can play multiple positions so he does have value. If he can return to form from his Oakland days then this would be a good move for the Yanks.

Except that's not really true. Our offense scored 789 runs last year, down from 968 in 2007.

Considering we had injuries to our top two pitchers and still finished 15th in ERA, offense is as big a problem as pitching was.

                        Woooo! Great trade!

Rosenthal is saying it is Swisher and Kanekoa Texeira for Betemit, Marquez, and Jhonny Nunez.

Got Swisher for pretty much nothing.

Swisher can play the OF also and the Yankees need a CFer, so Tex is still a possibility.

That's probably what I like best about this move. The position flexibility of Swisher gives us plenty of flexibility in the offseason while increasing our leverage position.

                              Kenny Williams should be shot.
