Re: Nick Swisher is a Yankee
The guy looks like a douche....now i have to see him almost all the time?
Seriously, I think he's a pretty good ballplayer who is one of those guys that seems to play better then their stats seem to indicate. Nice to see the Yankees go for a guy who isn't a super huge big name but can get the job done.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Nick Swisher is a Yankee
Major props to thread starter. I doubted, I was wrong.
As for the trade, um...why? The White Sox only had him one year, and he didn't play that bad. They better get some good value back.Too Old To Game Club

It may involve other minor leaguers according to Jon Heyman, he also mentions Betimet as possibly being involved.Comment

Re: Nick Swisher is a Yankee
Swish had a poor, poor year in Chicago. They brought him in w/ high expectations, and his bat just stunk...He still showed some pop, but only hit .219.
He does play good defense though, and can play multiple positions so he does have value. If he can return to form from his Oakland days then this would be a good move for the Yanks.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Nick Swisher is a Yankee
Except that's not really true. Our offense scored 789 runs last year, down from 968 in 2007.
Considering we had injuries to our top two pitchers and still finished 15th in ERA, offense is as big a problem as pitching was.MLB: New York Yankees

Re: Nick Swisher is a Yankee
That's probably what I like best about this move. The position flexibility of Swisher gives us plenty of flexibility in the offseason while increasing our leverage position.MLB: New York Yankees
