    Pitching questions

Well, my wife went to a Mary Kay Cosmetics convention in Palm Springs so I went out and rented MVP XBOX. Have been reading a lot of advice on the boards. I played on ROOKIE level because I wanted to get a feel for the game.

3 run homer in the bottom of th 9th off Percival to tie it up (playing as the DRays). I then hit ANOTHER homerun in the 10th to tie it again and hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 11th to win it. So, at least on ROOKIE, I can hit the ball out.

Now, for the life of me. I must have had the CPU 0-2 for 5-6 batters and could not strike one out. I moved the ball up down, in, out and nada (little Spanish lingo there). I don't have a manual with the game.

Do I have this correct. The meter goes all the way to the end and then I try to stop it as close to the center of the green as possible? Anything I'm missing.

The game is a blast to play. I used ASSISTED fielding so all I did was throw, however, there were three balls hit to my right fielder that, for some reason, got by him and to the wall. Hopefully that doesn't happen much.

Really enjoy the graphics and ambience. Now if I could only strike out Bengie Molina.

    Re: Pitching questions

I flat out CANNOT strike out any batter. Not even the apposing pitcher. Played with Randy Johnson pitching against the Dodgers and through 7 I had ZERO strikeouts. Every ball was put in play. Very frustrating.

I find "changing speeds" is more effective than mixes pitches. My leader in strikouts has a fastball, curveball repetoir. I find that once I get ahead in the count I will set him up with a fastball off the plate and then a curve which I make sure the meter is perfectly centered in the green. I think it is very important cause I have noticed I get most of my strikouts with it centered perfectly.

                        Dino,

Thanks for your response. I'm going to stick with it a bit. It seems, right now that the CPU won't fish at anything remotely out of the strikezone. Have you ever had the CPU actually swing at a pitch that would have been called a ball?
