Which isn't right, IMO. Pitched equal amount of seasons with both teams, more innings with the Orioles, performed better as an Oriole for the most part, and had playoff success with both teams.

MOOSE MOOSE MOOSE SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!
Oh well, it was a good run having Mussina. I'm pretty sure he'll get in the HOF.

I say he will, but not first ballot.

Getting 270 wins against the AL East your whole career is damn tough.

        Great pitcher.

Even though I didn't watch it when it happend, I'll always remember Moose for his absolute gem in the '97 ALCS against the Indians. Pitched 8.2 scoreless and got no run support, then Benitez gives up a Tony Fernandez homer in extras and the Orioles lose. Dude deserved better.

To put up numbers like his in the AL during the height of the steroid era is pretty impressive. I doubt he's a first ballot HOF but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get in eventually.

Absolutely not. He's not a first-ballot HOF but he's a decent lock for the HOF. His stats in his respective era are surpassed by few.

Also, most writers already seem to be in favor of putting Moose in and I imagine that he'll get in in a few years after gaining eligibility.

One thing working against Moose is Bert Blyleven. They have similar numbers and Blyleven still isn't in the hall.

Yeah, I've heard people bring that up but different eras. You can't compare their numbers when Moose pitched through the heart of the "steroids era". Most writers seem to realize that and have admitted that he's probably a HOF from what I've read the last couple of weeks. 117 more wins than losses is hard to argue with, especially in the AL East.

Moose's era doesn't look as stellar as people already in the HOF but he compares quite nicely with his peers in his era. He finished in the top 10 of ERA 11 times in his career, only had one 20 win season but he had a bunch of 18 and 19 win seasons, including a season in the strike-shortened year where he probably would've gotten to 20.

It is going to be a tough call if Mussina makes it into the Hall. He has things on both sides of the scale, just a matter of what people weigh more. If he had made the 300 club, his chances would have been dramatically better. I would have liked to have seen him do this but it would be a 2 season investment.

above average pitcher for his career but not sure about hof, i mean everyone seems to be a hof'r when they retire, lol, but lets just wonder how his record might have looked if he had been pitching for pittsburg or some such team over the past 8 yrs., might not look so good then, anyways from everything i've read he was a bit of an a** so that might come into play as well.

Based on what? That one great season he had in 1992, in fact his only one with an ERA below 3.00?

Above-average pitchers do not belong in the HOF. Sorry.

32 of 40 would vote for him in the Hall. Think what you want, but he's gonna get in sooner or later.

                              Moose = HOF

                              No brainer.

                              The better question:

Is Roger Clemens a HOFer now?
