Trade Negotiating on this game is intense.

I am starting to become obsessed with this game. I love the GM function. In my Astros francise I traded Hildalgo and Reynolds to Florida for Pudge and a prospect. Anyway I love the way the other teams GM gives feedback. It was apparent that Florida wanted pitching and wasn't gong to give up until I gave it to them. I went back and forth trying different combonations. The coolest part was when I put Dotel on the block, he pleaded for me not to trade him. I found myself treating these players as if they were real. So I took his name off because I didn't want to trade him either. In some games if you offer enough the CPU will trade anybody but I like the way the CPU set francise players that it won't trade regardless of what you offer. Montreal refused to trade Vladimir. The funny thing was after I acquired Pudge, my starting catcher, Ausmus' loyalty started to decline. After including him and Vizcaino in several offers there loyalty drop to F. I traded them because I figured that since they were unhappy I would be able to resign them next season. I spent about 45 minutes just bargaining back and forth.

On another topic have any of you XBOX guys used the white button (Quick key)between pitches. This is an awesome feature I don't know if it is in the PS2 version. It tells you the stats of the person at bat and the currnt stats of the picther . You can access you line up without having to enter a separate screen, check on your bullpen's status and my favorite track the path of the last pitch.
I usually read the manual thoroughly but I didn't see that function listed. I saw it on the load screen. Anyway I'm loving this game, to bad I'm at work and have to wait to play.

There's no trading block in this game, so....were you playing something else when this happened?

The manual left out a lot of things. Seems like almost everytime I play I learn something new and cool about the game. But I wish I didn't have to find them by accident.

I tried to trade for Pudge. Offered some pretty decent pitching, but I didn't expect the CPU to go for it. And I was right. I got that "franchise player" excuse. Then at the end of the season Pudge was a free agent and I wound up signing him anyway because both of my catchers retired.

So in the end, I'm glad the trade didn't go through. I might not have been able to afford to re-sign Pudge (I think I got a bit of a bargain on him). Is there any way to check on how long a player on another team has left on a contract? I can look up the stats, but unless I missed it I can't find any business stats.

its not that the "franchise" players are un-tradeable.. its just you have to give up a whole whole lot.

i had to give up 3 players rated 80+ under the age of 25 to get prior.

I meant that when I tried to trade him. I used the term "trade block" figuratively. Damn, some people need to drop the dime out of their *** and loosen up.
