Can someone help me out?
Hey all, finally I stumbled upon a very cool sports video game community! Also, this is my first time posting. i've been playing the game mainly with the sliders ranging from the 50-60 range with the exception of CPU throw strikes in the 1-10 range. I've been getting awesome results back from the sliders except for one thing; the CPU never walks me. What gives? It's not like i'm Soriano hacking at the first pitch thrown, I just seem to never walk. Any suggestions? By the way I tend to play with 'high' variable pitch location. Any help would be appreciated.Tags: None -

do you never get walked because you swing at everything?
that cant be fixed by sliders. -

Re: Can someone help me out?
Honestly I don't swing at everything, I try to play as real as possible. The main gripe I have with the game (By the way I love it--Best game since HH 2003) is that the strike zone is way too big and they miraculously hit the corners; even with a scrub like Chris Reitsma. I seem to get frozen alot on 2-2 counts or what not, even when the ball looks as if its going to hit the dirt on a drop curveball it still nips the bottom half of the plat. Very frustrating as you can tellComment

Re: Can someone help me out?
Patience. ONce you get your eye you will walk. I walk at least twice a game. Take a look at what you're swinging at. After a pitch is thrown look at the pitch locator and see how many balls are out of the strikezone. I have swung at and struck out with 6 pitches thrown out of the strikezone. I'm sure I should have walked on that one.Comment

Re: Can someone help me out?
I noticed that problem with last year's WSB, and I was worried about this year's. I still see some questionable strikes now and then, but I as I've gotten better at hitting I find I'm drawing more walks. As you play, keep an eye on what you're swinging at and where it ends up. How many of them wind up out of the zone? I know you said you don't swing at everything, and I ain't calling you a liar, but keeping track of that helped me quite a bit I think. Also take a look at the K-Zone thing (or whatever it's called) after every pitch that makes you throw your controller at the screen. Get a good idea of where it's going and why that clueless lump of electrons called it a strike. All of this made me develop a better sense of the strike zone, bogusly big as it seems sometimes.
By the way, I haven't messed with the sliders at all yet. I've been playing on Pro and All Star. I guess the point is that whatever you do, you CAN draw walks.Comment
