I'm afraid that

the Padres will lose 100 games this year, or at least very close to it. Obviously we all know about the losses of Nevin and Hoffman, but this team has NOBODY outside of Kotsay and Klesko. Burroughs and Nady have potential, but they're too green and will not contribute significantly this year. The bench is probably the worst it's been since Bochy has been here (Dave Hansen...Keith Lockhart...somebody shoot me), and the staff, while talented, is again young and will have to go through some growing pains. The bullpen, even without Hoffman, is still decent IMO.

This team will lose a lot of 3-1, 2-0 ballgames and will probably lose 100 overall. It's not gonna be pretty this year.

^ All of this is true, except I think Burroughs may contribute more than expected this year. It is really his chance to shine, as not many people have the Padres exactly 'glowing' this season, and he will get his fair share of chances.

Burroughs will do ok, but he's not gonna carry a team, at least not at this stage in his career.

All scouting reports say this, but I'm not surprised that it'll happen. Klesko can't carry this team on his own.

Exactly. Rondell is a decent player but he doesn't exactly strike fear into anybody, so I don't know how much protection he will provide for Klesko, who will get nothing to hit this year. Kotsay in the 3 hole will have some nice numbers though.

Exactly. Rondell is a decent player but he doesn't exactly strike fear into anybody, so I don't know how much protection he will provide for Klesko, who will get nothing to hit this year. Kotsay in the 3 hole will have some nice numbers though.

Yeah, Klesko can protect Kotsay, but since White can't strike fear to pitchers and other teams, Klesko won't get the protection that he had when Nevin was in the lineup...

You could flip White and Klesko..and have Nady protecting Klesko....LOL even better.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Kotsay lead the team in all offensive categories. Yep, even HR and RBIs.

Of course he won't carry the team or anything, but he will put up good numbers across various categories..
