Is there a way to turn off that windowed base running?

My PC game seems to slow down whenever there are guys on base.. which really sucks. Is there a way to disable the windowed base running?

Is there any possible chance that an updated video driver would improve that?

I can't add new hardware because I'm on a laptop

I haven't heard anything about being able to turn it off.
It looks like an excellent feature, even though it slows down your PC.
