HH2004 (XBOX) : SLIDERS TO MAKE GAME PLAY LIKE HH2003

As with many of you, I really like HH2004 this year, but the balance of the game seems to be off compared to last years hh2003 (ps2) version.

What I did is try to mess with the sliders to make the game feel more like last years. I loved that 'BANG BANG' play type of feel in last years game which gave it a great mix of old school 8/16 bit baseball control mixed with next generation gameplay.

Please note that the slider bars are sensitive on the Xbox version. Remember that max slider bars are 10 to the right full.

Here are the sliders I am using , so far they are pretty good with realistic stats and makes the game 'feel' more like last years :
    --------------------------------------------------------
-Default is 5- (# in parenthesis is bar location)
    --------------------------------------------------------
    THROW SPEEDS :

Cpu Fielder Throw Speed : +1 from Default (6)
Cpu Catcher SB Throwing : Defualt (5)
Human Fielder Throw Speed : +1 from Defualt (6)
Human Catcher SB Throwing : Defualt (5)

Explanation : increasing the throwing speed of the fielders somewhat gets that 'bang bang' fielding back that was in last years version. For the infielders, +2 from default is like last years game, but I only put it +1 because by increasing this slider, the outfield arms get too powerful at +2. Even at +1 they are a bit too strong, but I find it a good balance. So this is perfect for infielders, but makes the outfielders just a tad bit strong with their throwing arms.

    --------------------------------------
    Run Speeds :
    CPU BaseRunner Speed : + 1 from defualt (6)
CPU Fielder Speed : Defualt (5)
    HUMAN Baserunner Speed : +1 from default(6)
HUMAN Filder Speed : Default (5)

Explanation : Cpu/Human speeds at +1 somewhat negate the stronger arms from the outfield with the ThrowSpeed sliders that were changed. But still the outfielders arms are a little too strong.
    -----------------------------------

    Miscellaneous :

    Error Frequency : +2 from Defualt (7) : OPTIONAL
    Rest Default.

Explanation : you don't have to really change anything here. I just added error frequncey to +2 because the errors make the game a little more realistic in terms of increasing the chance of errors by poorer fielders. Keeping at default is fine as wel.
    -----------------------

    Pitch Speeds :

    ALL : +3 thru +5 from Defualt (8-10)

Explanation : +3(8) is similar to the ps2 defualt speed. I have them on 9 and it seems just right. But anywhere from 8-10 full slider slots is like last years game.

    ----------------

    Batting :
    Foul Balls : +1 (6) or +2 (7)
    Keep everything else at Defualt

Explanation: Foul balls at +2 are perfect but your games will last longer if that is a issue with you. From avg 30 min most likely will last about 45 min. +1 is a good compromise for foul balls and quicker games.
    -----------------

That is about it. Not many changes. ONly problem you may encounter is the outfielders arms being a little big strong. Other than that, I get more of the feeling of last years game but still keeping much of the gameplay integreity with these sliders.

    Enjoy!

By making the pitch speeds so much faster, doesn't it make it harder to steal bases? Right now, using default everything, I find it a realistic challenge to steal second but the pitch speeds are too slow. With your sliders, will it still be possible to steal second, even with the pitch speeds so fast and the catcher's arm stronger?

No, stealing bases is still challanging so far in my expereince. The catcher throw speed is left at defualt since it is a seperate slider from the fielders throw speed. Even with the faster pitch speeds, I am finding that I still get thrown out if I don't have a good lead off or the catcher's ability to throw out runners is above average. Seems that more emphasis on stealing is based on catcher ability and runner leadoff/jump rather than pitch speed.

I found a solution to the powerful outfield arms problem.

Throw speeds : leave all at defualt for cpu and human.

For Run Speeds : put cpu and human fielder speed up 1 from defualt 5 (location 6) and put cpu and human baserunner speed back to defualt.

This makes a big difference. Adjusting the fielder speed instead does work better. Thanks.
