Remember, in 1994, there were very few trades before the deadline, in preparation for the strike. I'm not surprised, although I was hoping that my Orioles would've dumped Scott Erickson.

You obviously missed the Cubs - Pirates deal. Chad Hermanson for Darren Lewis, I can't even imagine how this trade came up or why the Pirates would want Darren Lewis or the Cubs Hermanson.

Could still be some deals after the 31st, players just have to clear waivers and with some of the salaries guys are carrying a lot of people expect that they will clear waivers.

It's a very small deal, Darren Lewis is a 35 year old outfielder who has never really been a full time player and Hermanson is a former top notch Pirate prospect that never panned out. So I just don't get what the point of the deal was for either team.

LOL, it doesn't make sense to me, but at least Hermanson is a younger guy so he could be backup outfielder with speed, I will have to see what they say in the papers tomorrow.

Guys, I'd watch out for the Red Sox getting Howry, they're main weakness was their bullpen, and a 5th starter ... They're rotation and lineup now....

Note to self:
If I ever play a SIM season with ASB in the future....make sure I make all trades prior to finishing the last game on July 31. Now that it is paast the deadline, I cannot make the trades that were made during the final hours......my game friggin' won't let me.

Yeah Lewis retired today. He knew he wasn't going to get any playing time in Pittsburgh so he left. I'm not sure why the deal was done in the first place. I think PGH was doing Hermansen a favor. He needed a change of scenery and PGH knew Lewis would be a FA after this season so they agreed to the trade knowing Lewis could ride pine for a few months and then be gone. This would open up a roster spot for Tony Alvarez who's a very good OF in the Pirates minor league system who should be in the bigs next year...
