Does the Realism play into trades?

Alot of my trades I can't complete. I set the franchise on realistic. I keep trying to get rid of a Left Handed reliever who is a B-. Trying to trade him for Tony Womack. Who is a C+. I can never get this trade completed. Does the realism play into the trading also?

I think the trading is very realistic....you can't seem to boss the cpu into a trade. Just because you think your Womack trade is a good deal for the cpu, doesn't mean it always is a good deal. Everyone looks at like, I'm giving up a B- guy for their C+ guy, what the hell, why wont they make that deal. But things like age, contract, current stats.....you could be a B+ player but be awful defensively....well, I don't want you if you can't help me in the field. You may be a B rated pitcher....but you have no velocity, and no control...you're B rated because you have a nice curve ball and your pickoff move is solid and you field rather well.
Anyways....I find it very real, and very difficult to bully the computer into the trade that you want. It has to work for both sides.

Also, that particular team may not want to do a 1 for 1 trade and give up an everyday player for a reliever. I sure wouldn't pull that deal.

But, the best way to tell your market value on your players is to check out the trading block. There's some players (Vinny Castilla) that nobody will touch (he sucks for me. Hitting in the .140s with 1 hr and 2 rbi, hasn't been in the starting lineup since the 2nd week of the season). One trade I almost pulled, and I still might was when I put Giles (also struggling sub .200 with 1 hr and 10 rbi) and got interest for Adam Kennedy.

My only problem is since the real season hadn't started yet, I really hate to change up my team too drastically from what the real teams look like.

So stats actually do matter? If I had Randy Johnson who has a 25-5 record. I could get alot of offers on the trading block for him? And if Curt Schilling for some reason had like a 5-25 record. I coudln't get too many offers for him even though he has a good rating?

Agreed, and most trading will occur either at the trade deadline or in the offseason. There are a few minor adjustments in spring training....and of course the post trade deadline clear waivers first trading, but thats usually not too big. Trade deadline is when the deals are made.

I believe stats do matter.....but Schilling isn't going to have that kind of record, I can't even imagine that.
But I had a B- player that was hitting .194, and I got 3 offers for him. Then I had a C+ player that was hitting .274, they're both positional players....and I had 7 offers for him. Yes stats do matter, and they matter for me too...if someone offered me a guy that was a B rated player, but he was hitting .221 in 220 at bats...how's he going to help me? Is he going to all of a sudden turn it on now that he's with me? Of course, I simulate games so that I can play 6, 7 or 8 seasons. I look at stats also, that tells the story of how the guy is playing.
