    Barry Bonds "I'm not retiring"

    Bonds 'not retiring,' slugger says

Barry Bonds is not above being caught on camera by the Los Angeles paparazzi.

Nor, it seems, is he above a return to baseball.

Bonds appeared to relish the chance this weekend to clear up thoughts he's given up on on a comeback.

Are you still considering it, Barry?

    Barry?

    Barry?

"I'm not retiring," Bonds said Saturday night. "I'm not retiring."

Bonds, who spoke with a cameraman for the Web site TMZ.com, was in good spirits while waiting for his car outside a Los Angeles restaurant.

    As for free-agent Manny Ramirez?

"I hope Manny stays," Bonds said, bending the knees he put under the knife at least three times -- during a 22-year career -- to get into his car. "Manny's great for L.A."

Bonds hadn't spoken publicly about his career since making an appearance in early October for a kickoff event of the Macy's Christmas tree lighting in San Francisco. Bonds served as honorary chair for the ceremony then but did not talk to reporters and left quickly after giving a brief speech during a 30-minute program.

He did talk to a young patient about potentially returning to baseball.

"I had fun," Bonds said then. "But I like my freedom."

Bonds pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of making false declarations to a federal grand jury and one count of obstruction of justice, and his trial is scheduled to start March 2. Bonds is accused of lying when he said he never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs during 2003 grand jury testimony.

The 44-year-old Bonds hit 762 homers, seven more than the previous record set by Hank Aaron.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

I say good for Bonds, hes on of the funnest players to watch and deserves to be on a team to keep the record glowing. The only asterisk that should be put in the record books in one saying 762* (the record could have been a lot higher but teams colluded against signing him for future play)

"I'm not afraid to be lonely at the top" - Barry Bonds

He might not officially retire, but when no one wants you what are you going to do? no one wants garbage on their team, unless their garbage themselves.

Ricky Henderson never officially "retired" either and he is likely going into the Hall of Fame this year. Good luck with that Barry.

Ricky Henderson is an old *** man, wasn't he playing for a league last year?

Re: Barry Bonds "I'm not retiring"

It's not just the drugs that are keeping him out of the league, the dirty little secret is they're still prevalent, but what do I know? I've only been laughing about drugs in sports for 20 years now, most every sports "writer" knows NOTHING about the subject, and make it perfectly clear every time they open their mouth.

Barry Bonds didn't play last year because his horrendous PERSONALITY outweighs the considerable contributions he can offer with his bat, and that's saying something.

How big of a jerk do you have to be that teams will say "no thanks" to a guy who would probably hit 330 with power and an on-base percentage of about 450???

Bonds is supposedly good friends with Jeffrey Loria. Maybe he'll make his way to Florida & pick up his first WS ring. I have nothing against Bonds so I wouldn't mind seeing him on the Marlins.

If he was then he was doing better than Barry who was sitting at home last year.

If Manny Ramirez who is 10 years younger than Bonds (though arguably as big a pain in the ***) Can't get a team other than the Dodgers to even talk to him, what real hope does Bonds have?.

Re: Barry Bonds "I'm not retiring"

The reason he won't retire is so that he can maintain a case against the MLB. If he doesn't retire, it makes collusion among the teams even more apparent.

This is about sticking it to the league rather than meaning he still expects to play. If I was him, I'd do the same thing.

Actually the longer Bonds tries to linger the more likely he is to hurt his case. Like it or not Barry is an old man by sports standards. even if someone signed him last year it doesn't mean that he would get a contract for next season. At some point either Barry was going to be done with baseball or baseball was going to be done with Barry. The latter just happend first.

I still think a team should invite him to Spring Training.

Do you honestly think that Bonds would take an invite to spring training without a guarenteed contract?.
