I'm playing field assist, so I only throw the ball, and I don't see any fielding flaws (the dive everyone talks about). This, so far, is a great purchase.

Is it just me or..........
I rented MVP for the XBOX. Had a lot of fun with it. Today I took ASB and HH PS2 and traded it in for MVP PC. I chose the PC because I was thinking mods down the line. It seems to me that the PC version is a lot more polished than the console game. Anyone notice this. Ks seem a little easier and I'm seeing some CPU homers. Only been a few practice games, but it really looks sharp, esp. player faces.

If you are playing manual defense the "dive" problem is there, but for the most part it can be controlled. The diving thing won't happen if your player is in the right spot to make the catch, preferably towards the front side of the circle, also helps if the player does not have their back turned to the ball. I've noticed that if there is a line drive and you let go of the stick right before the ball gets there the player will spin around to make the catch rather than the goofy looking catch-the-ball-with-your-back thing (or worse having them dive like a ******).
One thing that does drive me absolutely nuts is the computer insisting on which fielder I want to make a play with, especially on grounders up the middle and hits into the gaps. Nothing pisses me off more than having my right fielder running to cut it off and then having control mysteriously switched to the centerfielder, both players stop momentarily and the ball ends up going to the wall (this cost me a game in extra innings once). It would be ok if the cpu controlled guy wouldn't stop running and actually go get the ball. Same thing with the grounders up the middle, looks like you'll get to it with your SS and you get switched to the 2Bman.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists Association -

Re: Is it just me or..........
I tried the assisted fielding for a few innings but then I get really disinterested when I'm pitching. Guess I'll have to live with the "smart" player switching employed by the cpu. Either that or figure out what I can do to avoid the "miscommunication" that fielders can have during the course of a game. And while on on the subject of cpu assistance, I wish that it wasn't as helpful running the bases as it is, I don't know how many times I've had a perfect hit-and-run, only to find that the runner stealing stops and waits for the balls to land (what's the point of a h&r if you're going to stop?).
that's all, have a good one
