    What's your out pitch?

I'm just wondering what all of your 'out' pitches are. These are the types of pitches you really trust to get key strikeouts with 2 strikes in the count.
I'd like to develop more to have a more varied arsenal of pitches when I'm facing opponents.
Right now, all I really use is some high heat, a 4 seam fastball high in the strike zone or even above the strike zone.
I sometimes use a curveball or a changeup going into the dirt to confuse the batter.
Once in a while I'll throw in a slider very low and inside to a right handed hitter if I am a RHP.
I'd really like to learn how to use sinkers, cutters, and 2 seam fastballs much better than I do now. I get hammered by batters because I don't know the best location for these pitches.

i mostly used high heat, just out of the strike zone. occasionally a low curve ball, but i'd also like to expand my punchout repertoire.

i'm most successful for strikeouts with clemens. with two strikes i either try to go upstairs with a fourseamer or use my splitter that drops low and out of the zone. it usually depends on the batters hot areas. if a batter is more comfortable high in the zone, that also where he is more likely to chase one that may be a just a little too high. if he is comfortable low in the zone then the splitter works well because it looks like a low fastball until it dives out of the zone. accasionly when i can't get the batter to chase one i use my slider by starting it just outside the zone and breaking it in. that usually gets me a couple of looking ks during the course of the game.

it's a bit scary, but a good changeup can completely screw a batter. especially when they haven't seen one yet.

I'm a big fan of either the high heat (completely out of the strike zone) or a low and inside curve ball.

On a similar note, how effective is varying how much you charge up the meter? I usually keep it right under red (sometimes I use the red on 0-2 fastballs up high), but is it benefical to maybe only charge it up half of the way?

high heat with low changups , even if you dont have a pitcher with really good heat it sets up good for a low changup

yup, that's definitely true. I just finished a game on ALL star and out of 7Ks in 7innings, about 4 or 5 were on changeups right in the strike zone that the batter swung through.

I can usually get someone to chase high heat, but I can never get the batter to chase a low pitch out of the zone.

I did it once last night (for the first time), but it was for strike two.

Anyone having success throwing a splitter or somethin in the dirt?
