A double switch is only rally important when you are in the NL. Lets say your number 8 batter makes the last out and you want to put in a RP. Thing is you don't really want him to lead off the next inning so what you do is put him in the 8th spot (lets say that is a SS) and then put a SS in the pitchers spot. Now the new SS is batting 9th and leading off the next inning and the new RP is batting 8th and won't be coming up for a while. This way you don't have to burn your bullpen as fast. I don't know about the four man rotation.Comment
