Too few runs and too easy?

Ok here is the deal. I'm playing in a franchise with the Texas Rangers right now and I'm leading the Al with a 7-2 record. Here are the scores of my games...

    6-1 W Anaheim
    10-0 W Seattle
    3-1 W White Sox
    2-4 L Oakland
    1-2 L Detroit
    2-1 W Seattle
    1-0 W KC
    3-1 W Anaheim
    7-2 W Minnesota

Now for those of you all counting, the CPU has scored a total of 12 runs in 9 games off me. AND I'M THE TEXAS RANGERS. My bullpen has given up maybe 2 runs, and I have a bunch of twenty year old starters (Colby Lewis, J Benoit, J Thompson) with an ER of under 2.00.

Now add to the fact that these are my sliders
    CPU Pitching Ability - 70
    CPU Batting Average - 100
    Batting Eye Balls - 32
    Batting Eye Strikes - 32
    Throw Strikes - 1
    Stealing Freq - 60

Plus I'm playing on Very fast pitching, small cursor, and high variable pitching. However, thats beside the point, as my hitting is actually about spot on. It is the CPUs total lack of hitting skils that is really bothering me. I don't really think I'm pitching anything special, I'm get around 6-7 Ks a game (unless its CH Park then its around 10). So the CPU is getting the ball in play its just that they hit the ball right at me. The CPU gets maybe 4-7 hits a game, but its always spread out. They barely ever get more than 2 hits in an inning. They have never had a 3+ run inning before. I really want the Rangers to represent themselves and show off their bad pitching, but they haven't. Heck, I even lowered CH Park's stats a bit to more accurately reflect him, but alas he has pitched 17 shut-out innings, and the CPU has not scored more than 4 runs aganst me in 9 games.

I'm really desiring some 8-5 losses thrown in the mix, and I seriously think I'm doing something wrong, as I've read others say they have CPU batting average on 40 and they are having trouble with too many hits.

Plus with stealing freq on 60 I have had 2 attempts in 9 games. I guess I should move this up, but I've read others say that they actually needed to lower this stat because they were getting stolen on so much.

Oh well, if any of you guys know of anything I can do to makethe CPU a little more skilled I would appreciate it. I really do love this game, its just that these couple of aspects are bothering me a bit. Thanks

Note: I have the PS2 version.

Turn the strike zone off and welcome yourself to the world of a higher ERA...

Also batting eye balls and strikes should be set to 99 each. I still get 8 K's a game but they hit better that way.

So turn off the strike zone and raise the batting eye's to 99 each.

        Then thank me later..

Hmmmm...I have strike zone and pitching cursor turned off. But I'm experimenting with a higher batter's eye right now. Thanks for the response.

if you're still complaining, your experiment must not be working.

Are you using power pro hitting? If so, that's the problem for the computer. The CPU cant bat worth a crap with it turned on.

Easy workaround though: set it to standard hitting and just change it each game for yourself. This will leave the cpu at the default of standard hitting.

batting eye/ball/strike at 32 is way too low. that means they hardly ever swing at strikes and swing too many at balls. im surprised you're not getting more strike-outs just throwing balls out of the strikezone. if you say you have ba at 100 then move batting eye balls to 90 and batting eye strikes to about 65 or 70 and you'll get killed.

Ya dude - it's your CPU batting eye sliders that are making your pitchers overperform.

I have both of my batting eye sliders at 75 - and the CPU really punishes me for throwing pitches right down the plate. At the same time - if I get lucky and hit a corner - he will swing and miss....

At 32 for each, you are basically having it so that the computer will swing at 2/3 of the balls you throw (which is way too high for major league hitters), and - they are only swinging at about 1/3 of the strikes you are throwing (which is way too low for MLB hitters). I like 75 for each - in that the computer will still swing at about 25 percent of the balls (i.e. only those that are pretty close), and will swing away at about 75 percent of types of strikes that I throw (especially mistake pitches down the middle).

Also - turn variable pitching down to medium. On high, the computer gives you way too many mistake pitches that you can easily crush. Medium is nice, because you can't totally control pitches - but - you and the computer are not randomly grooving pitches down the middle....
