Does Anyone Else Get Nailed By Their Baserunners Taking Off Unexpectedly?

Let me preface this by stating that I love this game, and - honestly, I will play a 162 game season if I can just find a way around this one problem....

If I get two or more runners on base - the computer will randomly send my basrerunners without telling me. While this is great if I put the ball in play - I have had about 5 or 6 ridiculous plays where I will swing and miss - and get caught stealing at third or at home. The problem is - by the time I realize this and frantically hit B - my runner is dead. It is absolutely ridiculous - I would never put on such risky and ridiculous double steals....

Has anyone else had this problem?

I know that I am not hitting the D-Pad or pressing the X button before or during the sequence - so it has to be somehow automatic.

I have my computer stealing AI set at 55. Is this the problem? Or - is there some other slider that I should be aware of?

So - please advise if you have had this problem. Is there a simple "work around"?

Total opposite for me, they never move unless I make them.
be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter don't mind, and those that mind, don't matter.

AI stealing is only for the AI team.

I don't know what to tell you. They shouldn't go unless you tell them, or if you hit the ball. Maybe your controller is bad. Is this PS2 or Xbox? The older Xbox controllers can be flaky.

All I can think of is maybe you're accidentally bumping the left trigger when swinging with your batter. Maybe keep your finger up higher on the control and away from the trigger until after the ball is in play?

I'm with EaglesFan here - 2 outs, man on third, single through the infield, and my guy on third won't run unless I force him!

A little annoying, but it just means I need to pay a lot more attention...

I get some times when a runner on second base and a hit just passed the shortstops left side or right if your looking at the TV screen. My runner will dive back to second base and not score on the hit or even advance to third base

Make sure you're not hitting the D-Pad, as that will make your runners steal, otherwise, I have never heard of this either.

I noticed that if you hit the "increase lead" button just one time, it sends them on the next pitch.. I rarely use it unless I fully intend to steal and when I do I keep a finger on the "get back" button.. in the even of a pick-off that is..

I have a hard time getting a guy to score from second, nice shot through the 2nd base gap my guy on seconds should be home, but nooooooooooooo, he only rounds third as the ball hits the cut-off, and I retreat back to third.
