Gameplay vs. Simulation

What is the difference between gameplay and simulation? And what each of them means to a baseball game?

I have both WSB 2k3 and MVP, and like MVP better IMO, but i heard alot of talks and looking at forums that MVP has a better gameplay while WSB 2k3 has simulation. Dont know what they mean?

    Re: Gameplay vs. Simulation

Gameplay is where you play the game yourself, simulation is where you, well, it's where you "simulate" the game.

Simulate is to have the game played without your input, scores and statistics are generated based upon player abilities rather than your playing skill.

Actually, I think he is talking about Simulation as in how real the game is...

Gameplay is how the game moves, how the controls are, and how much "fun" it is to play the games, and how easy it is..A game with good gameplay is a game where the controls wont screw you up or anything

Simulation on the other hand, is how the game actually potrays..well..the real game of baseball...Like if there are alot of walks, or homeruns, or strikeouts and what not..or if the scores and stats are just realistic..

It depends on what you're looking for. If you enjoy playing MVP more, then it will be better in the long run. However, WSB's sliders do offer the chance for long time players to keep the game challenging. I would also think that stats will be more realistic in WSB. That said, MVP isn't too far off...and if you really love the game, I wouldn't stop playing it.

Neither. Try ootp5 for a true career simulation, console games are meant for playing, with decent stat generation. Meaning, hitting a fastball with Bonds will produce a higher hr rate than with Ordonez.

Rent them all and play the one that is the most fun to you, not anyone else's opinion. If you want true to life stats, get ootp5 an excellent career text sim for your PC.

Like I said before i have both games (WSB 2K3 & MVP). What am looking for in a baseball game for this year is a game that offers:

                        1. Real Time competition meaning that the computer will win plenty of games over me during any franchise or season when playing a full 162 games.

                        2. is a fun game to play a 162 game in so i wont get bored playing it during the middle or any point during my season am playing (By the way i want to start my franchise with mets!!! )

                        3. i want realism in any kind of way like players looking like their real life counterparts in their batting/pitching stances, face details, specialized accesories (like Bonds elbow pads), and etc.

                        4. i want real players stats that would affect their in-game performance on the field. Like Benitez usually get men on base or Bonds usually hits or homers or strikeout or walks, or Giambi hits doubles, hit homers opposite field and/or pulls it to right. Will eighter game (MVP or WSB2k3) have that?

                        5. i want a game that has situations on it. What i mean about situations, i mean that if, for example am leading 4-1 with the mets, bottom of the 9th, benitez on the mound, bases are loaded, and Bonds at the plate with 2 outs will i get that in the games i play during franchise, season, or exbition modes because it really adds to the realism of the game of baseball pitching and/or hitting in situations. And will either (WSB2K3 or MVP) have that.

It is hard to choose from between MVP and WSB 2K3, but what am looking for in a game is REAL competition with a mix of a fun and playable game, and realism can any of you guys advise me on what game i should pick which satisfies these catogories. I want you honest opinion please!!! Is a hard choice to choose from IMO. Thanks!!!

You're the one who has to play the game. You say you own both games, but from your posts it seems as if you have never played them before. If you want to know how the games handle certain situations and player attributes, play the games. If you know baseball, just pick the game (or games) that replicate it the most to you and that you have fun playing.
