    Orioles extend Markakis

6 years, $66 million per the Baltimore Sun.

Excellent, excellent deal IMO. He's one of the, if not the most underrated young player in the game and will earn every penny.

I really think Markakis is due for a really big year. Good move by the Os.

Yep, smart move. Lock him up long-term, avoid dealing with arbitration, pay a little bit more now, but pay much less in the long run. Plus Markakis has longterm financial security that he wouldn't have living off of 1-year arbi deals.

The O's are going to be fun to watch in a few years when all of their young talent matures even more. They're building their team the correct way for them to contend in the East. I'm not sold on Pie so much, but Jones and Markakis are legit threats to be +5 WAR guys.

Constantly overlooked because of how poor the Orioles have been in his three seasons.

Very good talent. Good hitter, great eye, good power, can run a little. And he's only going to be 25.

Yea he is a nice talent. I really like him as a #2 hitter in just about any lineup.

I agree YankeePride. Great deal for the O's to lock him up.

              I will also agree.

I think like Yankee said he's constantly overlooked because of how bad the O's are, but he's definitely got talent.

I thought Angelos didn't like to actually spend money on good talent...

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Apparently this has been high on his list for awhile...the Greek connections had something to do with it I'm guessing.
