Pinch hitting and Pitchers. Maybe a Bug or a mistake on my part

I faced the Expos in the 10th or 11th game of my season, and Tom Glavine , my pitcher, was up to bat. I decided to give another guy a shot at hitting, So I put Mcewing on there.

After that intial batting session, A screen popped up saying that Joe Is not a pitcher, you should change him. I went to put Tom back in and he disappeared. He was only 3 inning's in and he was gone.

It happened again in the 12th inning. I didn't want Armando Benitez hitting, so I subbed in Rey Shanchez. Armando wasn't able to pitch after, because he was missing.

I know once you subb a Pitcher out and place another one in from the bullpen, he disappears, but I didnt know that, thats the case for Pinch Hitting.

Is this some type of MLB rule (I'ma a newbie really, to the game), or a mistaake by the game?

Ps, What type of pitcher is a SU, or a MU??? Something utlitity?

your saying you took glavine out, and then tried to put him back in? you cant do that. Once you take a player out, he is out for the rest of the game no matter what. thats why you couldnt put benitez or glavine back in, becaus eyou ttok them out.
SU, is your set-up pitcher for the closer. and i think it is MR not MU, and that is middle relief.

Thanks. I've learned something new today.

Know I know to limit my pinch hitting.

Ps, whats the difference between a LR and MR.

Some of my LR's cant play more than 2 innings, they get tired.

Thanks, and sorry for the stupid questions.

to be honest, im not exactly sure, but i figure that a LR will have more stamina than a MR. and if your starter is sucking and you take him out in like the 4th inning, you would put your Long relief pitche in.

thats what I figured but Franco, I think, is a LR, but his stamind is at like 30.

BTW, Benitez is a Stud in the 9th.

Ive had as high as a 102 fastball with him.

                8 saves, in 12 games.

yeah, he is fast, but his accuracy could use some work.

Franco is a set up guy (usually 8th inning work). If you are using the default Mets roster you should use Grant Roberts as your long reliever. Franco (though he is hurt in real life), Stanton and Weathers are all good setup guys. Strickland is kind of a tweener, he can go a few innings if you need him to and of course AB is the closer.
