    depends on your pitcher.
Prior's a good young guy who can throw forever.
John Burkett is lucky to get me through the 5th

        Re: Late Rallies

I have warm up pitcher turned off and I am getting KILLED with late inning rallies. The Astros recently scored 8 runs in the 8th and 10 runs in the 9th (fresh pitchers) to beat me 19-6. Yes, I was winning 6-1 and pitching well up until the 8th inning. That's just one extreme example. I have lost a ton of games due to the Madden-esque "Robo-Rim-Job" by the cpu. Whatever........I'm still 52-45 with the mighty Phillies.

Oh, yeah------I play the PS2 version on All-Star as well.

Funny that this comment just came up now. I just now decided to keep HH over WSB because in WSB no matter who I brought in to pitch, no matter what slider settings I had, no matter what the condition of my thumbs the CPU ALWAYS hammered me after the 7th inning.
I've had a few late rallies against me in HH but it was because i left my starter in too long or brought in a guy who sucked because my good pitchers were tired. I am now 14-10 in my Royals franchise.

I think I've noticed what has been happening to me.
The computer seems to just swing a lot more in the later innings. They seem just to swing at anything that is a strike or close to a strike.
They do seem to make contact an awful lot though.

The only way I've found to stop the late rallies is to try to get them to ground out, fly out, etc.

I find it really hard to strike anyone out (unless they are really bad) in the late innings.

Is it possible they're swinging more because they are losing and trying just a little harder to make something happen? Personally, I've not been a victim of too many late inning rallies. I'm playing my franchise as the Braves and Smoltz is AWESOME in this game. When I bring him in, it's almost an automatic lights out for the CPU. He's got a K/9 ratio of well over 9.
