    CPU: Too many hits??

I play on all star level.

I have turned down cpu hitting two notches, and they still manage 10-14 hits off me each game, even if they only score 1 or 2 runs. My hits to runs ratios are spot on, but the CPU's are way off.....2 runs and 14 hits? Maybe from time to time but I get ratios like this almost every game. Everything else is perfect, I can strike out the CPU on a very realisitc basis and all that stuff.

Anyone got any suggestions on what to do? Like I said I lowered the CPU hitting 2 notches and they still get too many base hits.

Hope this helps, I play the game on Pro and the CPU averages 6-10 hits a game. I like to change the postion on the rubber, throw away from batters and generally like to setup the batters.

Have you tried increasing by 2 clicks the Foul Balls and see if that helps?

I am 3 games into my series. The first game was.

        6 10 0
        3 11 1

        2nd game

        4 6 1
        3 5 0

        3rd game

        12 11 1
        2 5 2

I lost the 2nd and the third. Mine run to hit ration has been pretty good. I have been playing the brewers though. I will keep an eye on this though.

You could turn human contact ease down one.

I'll try moving my pitcher on the mound. Usually I never use that feature.

I get most of my strikeouts by setting up hitters with off speed pitches, then coming at them with a high and tight fastball, things like that. Or maybe a pitch in the dirt.

Its really cool how you can find a hitter's weakness sometimes and exploit it. I noticed Lowell on the Marlins was chasing high fastballs in my opening day game as the Phils, I came at him with 3 straight high fastballs....the last one out of the strike zone.....and he chased all of them.

I also had one incident where I threw a change-up that was clearly off the plate (not by much but it was a ball, I watched the replay to confirm it) but the ump gave me the call. I dunno if it was the variable umpire feature or what, but that was very cool.

I love the accomplished feeling you get in this game when you strike out your opponent.

My thoughts exactly! It's a challenge to strike some of the players out, and feels good when I do. I'm with you though that the CPU seems to get a lot of hits... more than usual. However, I too have not moved the pitcher left and right, I'll need to give that a try. I also admit I'm not throwing enough balls either, mostly strikes. I really think you need to mix it up a lot to do well. Thanks for the tip Rodster.

If you are throwing too many strikes try turning down the 'pitcher control sim' in the tuning menu. I believe this will reduce the accuracy of the pitcher, but I am not positive.
