Mistake Pitches?
I don't know about anyone else, but I am not getting very many of them. I do get about one MAYBE two per game and I have disciplined myself well enough to put about 70% of them into the cheap seats, but is there anything you can do to get more thrown your way? I work the count as well as I can, do I need to be fouling off more two strike pitches or something? Whats a good way to ensure a foul ball? i would say right now I average 4-5 pitches per at-bat.Tags: None -

In an older post someone talked about how star players get mistake pitches more often (ala sammy or bonds). So if you play with a cra$$y team you are likely to get less mistake pitches.

yeah, i think that's true. Good players also seem to get more mistake pitches in their hot zones, although this is probably just because their hot zones are much bigger.Comment

Re: Mistake Pitches?
I don't think good players get more "mistakes", you just pay more attention to the mistake pitches that good players get. Crappy players get just as many mistakes, you just don't realize it because most of them are in normal/cold zones.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Mistake Pitches?
I think it has more to do with the pitcher than the "star" batter. When I just play an exhibition game, I am playing against the staff ace, and I don't see too many mistake pitches.
When I play my franchise, I play against teams' 3rd, 4th, and 5th starters and I see way more mistake pitches than just playing the exhibition games. In franchise, I'm also seeing teams 2nd or 3rd best relievers so they're ratings are a little lower also."If y’all see me in the news, and I make the news for something that I ain’t got no business making it for, don’t bash me. Re: Mistake Pitches?
I agree entirely. Sometimes those lower starters can be tough after seeing a bunch of hard fastballs and looping curves. Some of them throw alot of junk and you have to adjust.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
