Andruw Jones to be a Ranger?!

Here it is folks, andruw and the rangers coming to terms soon? I tell yall one thing, if ol rudy cant help him get his swing then absolutley no one can. I would love it if he came to arlington AND only if he regains his beat mentality.

He wont fix it, if Don Mattingly could not do, then I doubt no one will.

forget mattingly what does he know rudy is the expert! No really though if mattingly and rudy cant do it...I really dont know what the deal is. It would be funny if we picked him up for nothing and he ended up being like the comeback player of the year with a gold glove! I would seriuosly laugh my @ss off

I doubt it, the guy is practically done. And even if he did make a great comeback, the Rangers still need pitching.

No batting coach can help Andruw when Andruw doesn't listen. There was back-to-back games in 2007 where Andruw won the games late with singles to right field. The next day he was qouted in the papers as saying "I'm not a right field hitter. I'm a pull hitter. That's just the way it is." Andruw doesn't care to be successful.

Apparently Nolan Ryan will get his wish and move Josh Hamilton to RF.

I like the idea of having Hamilton in RF. With that cannon he has plus there is less ground to cover in right so it will help save his body.

                Slow down everyone

                1. Jones struggles were as much due to injury and stubbornes (No batting coach can teach being healthy...if he is healthy i should become a .250 30 homer kinda guy again)

                2. Dont move Hamiliton out of CF so quick...with weight and knee issues, Andruw might not be the CF he use to be. He may just be a RF now.

                But we will see

So he has been injured since 2006? It doesn't matter if he is healthy or not. Unless Jones decides he wants to go the other way, he won't make the team.

I'd be fine with him in Arlington, but then again I've always been a fan of his.

Unless he loses some weight and his health improves, I don't think he can take over centerfield for Hamilton.

Since when has a lack of effort and commitment been considered an injury. Sure his leg hurt during last year, but not in the beginning of the year, and he still sucked then.

Exactly. Since the All-Star break of 2006 Andruw Jones' batting average has been .205. That's pitiful. I don't know why everyone was so shocked with what happened last year with the Dodgers. His final year with the Braves his average was below .200 for most of the season. It took a miracle to get it up to .222 for the season.

ITs been well documented that Andruw has been battling various knee injuries since 06. Some of it he has played through.

The problem is that the knee + the weight + age have slowed down his bat speed a bit. Having an injury can make someone change their swing.

Dude has been a pull or nothing hitter since he came up with the Braves. So its not JUST his approach that is kiling him.

Point is...if he can get truly healty (having a DH should help) he could be a good hitter again (25-30 homers .240-.260 BA). As far as CF...well that is anohter story

Okay take off the homer glasses and look at this. He was healthy, HEALTHY at the beginning of last year for the Dodgers. Through April he was barely at a .150 average. He is so pathetically stubborn and swings at every thing. He WILL NOT hit anywhere near .240 and will NOT hit anywhere near 15 homers ever again until he learns how to take pitches the other way. Thats the end of the story.
