Starting to have luck against Aces.

In my last game, I took my Rangers into Game 3 of a 3 game series against the A's. I drew Tim Hudson in the game. He and my basically rookie Joaquin Benoit had a pitchers duel until I was able to manufacture 1 run in the 6th. Hudson was brillant for the most part but I went on to manufacture 2 more runs to win 3-0. I like when I can put runs up without the long ball.

In my next game which BTW, I've utilized the "in-game save" feature because I didn't have time to finish, I am facing the BoSox in Game 1 of a 3 game series. I got lucky, and drew Pedro Martinez in Game 1. Things got ugly in a hurry as they scored 2 runs in the 1st inning on 2 consecutive errors made by my rookie 3rd baseman Mark Teixeira. Of course when I came up to bat, Pedro owned me from the start on through about the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 5th, I started to get a beat on his pitches and he threw Kevin Mench a 2-1 fastball which Mench proceeded to crush over the right center fence for his 8th of the season. I manufactured another run in the inning and I now trail 3-2. I probably could have tied it but I got caught trying to steal 3rd on a botched hit and run attempt (Don't laugh, I've stolen 3rd before).

Anyways, I think I saved it after the 5th so I will finish the game this evening and I hope I can continue to have success against Pedro.

Im my interleague part of the schedule with the Braves, I just finished playing my series with Oakland and just happened to draw Mulder, Zito, and Hudson. I beat Mulder 2-0. Couldn't get anything off him till late and got a single and then a 2 run homer with Julio Franco. Shut the A's out with Ortiz that game. Won the game against Zito 8-3. Beat Hudson 3-1. Weird thing was, I hit one HR in that whole series I think and the A's did NOTHING against me.

Guess what? I did go on to win the game. Not against Pedro though. He was pulled in the 8th. I tied it at 4 in the bottom of the 9th, with 1 out. We won in the bottom of the 13th!

I just got shutout by Randy Johnson. I don't know. The guys that can throw really hard can be tough to hit. It is tough when they have good velocity and control. When they also have good off-speed stuff then you can forget about it.

SOmething odd I found out... but I have more success against opposing team's ace's than their 4-5 spot rotation pitchers.

                Go figure...

The Rangers have reeled off 7 straight. I've taken out Derek Lowe, Tim Wakefield, and David Wells during that streak.
