Repetitive CPU pitching patterns
After playing a ton of games, I'm noticing some unmistakable pitching patterns to certain hitters. I play the Mets, and 90% of the time Piazza will be started out with 2 balls out of the zone, usually away, followed by a hittable off speed pitch, up and in. (It's really sad when I know this is coming and still miss it.) To EA's credit, it's not all the time, and most other players don't seem to have such predictable patterns. Just something I noticed. Anyone else notice patterns with their batters?Tags: None -

No I haven't. Would be interesting to see a pitch chart that has pitch type, pitch location, game situation, etc etc to see if that were actually true. Don't think I'll be in any mood to do that though.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists Association -

I loved the pitch chart in ASB. I still find myself trying to access it in MVP.Comment

Re: Repetitive CPU pitching patterns
depends on the pitcher. If its a top pitcher/reliever, they'll run the risk of throwing a first pitch strike to fool you. But it will always be in the corner.
But I've noticed that Soriano, Jeter, Giambi, Bernie usually get 2 balls to start the count. That's the first four batters in my lineup (yea I realize I'm the Yanks, so it helps) and it causes early inning problems for the AI. If I take advantage.
The chaneups on 2-0, 2-1 pitches killme though. I end up missing potential homeruns on those things."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I personally have never paid attention to CPU pitching patterns. I'm too busy watching the pitch and trying to hit it.Comment
