So, I'm reading an earlier post about taking practice swings to slow down the pitcher, especially with men on. So, I try to do it regularly, instead of only occasionally. Not only does it work, but it helps you steal bases!! Here's how:
First, take your first lead (first button press). Next, right away, take your practice swing. Just as your batter is resetting his stance, take your extended lead (second button press). Then steal, as soon as his motion starts toward the plate. Not only was I succesful 5 out of 6 with AVERAGE basestealers (Kingsale, Infante, Santiago of Tigers), I didn't get picked off once! Oh, they still tried, especially at second, but somehow, the" auto back to first" thing works better when you do this. AND, pickoff attempts to second, while in time to get me, were off bag and we all know how long it takes to get the fielders moving back to the bag when a throw is off-line. I made it back easily each time. It's added yet another dimension of realism to this game. I've totally rediscovered baseball for the computer again, after losing all hope the last couple years. If they had made a better roster management and editor system, this game would KILL all others!! I apologize if this has been posted before and I'm just finding out about it, or if I'm noit making sense. It IS 2:30 a. m. here LOL!!!
