Retooling the Braves

I am currently in the middle of May with my Braves franchise and decided it was time to make some trades to re-energize the team. Also, I signed Shane Reynolds and John Rocker right after Opening Day because I set the rosters up as close to Opening Day rosters as I could. Reynolds was 5-1 with a 2.70 ERA, but what makes it really weird is he just signed with the Atlanta Braves.

Anyway, here are the deals I made with the CPU in a span of one week in May.

I think I brought May Madness to Atlanta.

1. Traded Julio Franco, Vinny Castilla, and Chris Haney to the Angels for Eric Owens. Owens brings speed to the team and is one of my favorite players.

2. Traded Paul Byrd, Roberto Hernandez, and Trey Hodges to the Mets for Tom Glavine. I know the Braves dumped him after las year, but he will always be a Brave to me.

3. Traded Shane Reynolds, Aaron Small, and John Ennis to the Cubs for Matt Clement. I wanted Mark Prior, but the Cubs wouldn't give him up.

4. This is the really weird one. After I got Clement I offered him back to the Cubs along with Johnny Estrada for Mark Prior figuring the Cubs wouldn't do it. The Cubs accepted that trade.

5. Traded Mike Hampton, Robert Fick, and Jung Bong to the Padres for Ryan Klesko. This trade was great for two reasons. First, it cleared over 2,000 points to put in the bank by getting rid of Hampton. Second, it brought back Klesko who was one of the Braves' biggest mistakes in trading away. I still getting pissed off thinking about them giving up Klesko and Boone for R. Sanders and Q. Veras. Terrible!!!! Almost as bad as Millwood for Estrada

The two worst trades I have seen the CPU make so far are:

Astros traded Wade Miller to the Devil Rays for Ben Grieve.

Angels traded Seth Lackey to the Mets for Rey Sanchez then traded Sanchez to the Yankees for John Flaherty.

the real cubs never would have traded mark prior- period. He is a future cy young award winner.

congrats on landing him though

I agree with you totally that the Cubs would never Mark Prior in real life, but it is a video game. I'm glad I got him because I have not been as impressed by a pitching prospect like Prior in very long time.

He is very cheap in the game, too. He only costs 100 pts and I locked him up in a 5 year deal for around 600 pts per season.

Nice job. Do you have any extra starters that can be used in the bullpen? Because as I remember it, the Braves bullpen is very bad.

After the trades, here's my rotation and bullpen.

Rotation:
Maddux, Glavine, Ortiz, Prior, & H.Ramirez

Bullpen:
Smoltz, Marquis, Rocker, Holmes, King, Gryboski, & Rob Bell.

Marquis has nasty stuff on the game. Through the 1st 2 months he has an 0.52 ERA and has been too valuable to my bullpen to move into the rotation.

Pretty much the same as the regular Braves except I created myself and I play 3rd along with Klesko at 1st. The rest of the starters are the same.... Lopez, Giles, Furcal, Chipper, Andruw, and Sheffield. My bench is Eric Owens, Mark DeRosa, Darren Bragg, Matt Franco, and Greg Maddux's personal catcher Henry Blanco.

Right now we just started June and I'm 6 games up on the Mets.
