It's not really the edge of the zone, it's above the zone. They don't swing at it a whole lot, about as often as they'll swing at any other pitch that's out of the zone.

Actually the best way and most efficient way for me to get strikeouts is the following: Throw fastball on the outside corner. Throw slider to far right side of plate. Then throw a curveball down and in. I got 11ks and a perfect game with no fly balls with Kerry Wood by using this method.
