Different Umpires....

Anyone else notice how you may get a different home plate umpire from game to game. The voices change. You hear a hard strike call, and games it's more of a nonchalantly called strike.

I'll have to check that out. Haven't really paid attention to the strike zones.

I keep the strike zone turned on, it is easier to tell that way. It seems that sometimes those that hit the very edge of the zone are called strikes and other times its a ball. Could be all in my head too.

The strike zone does vary from game to game. I noticed also, that if a pitcher is getting a lot of k's, then the home plate ump will tend to give him more boarderline pitchers, and just the opposite for pitchers with control problems.

I've also noticed that some hitters get alot more leeway on appeal calls. Jose Cruz jr & Bonds never get rung up on a check swing no matter how far thet goe. But Marquis Grissom is rung up every time, no matter what.

It seems as if when I do like a hard tap of the botton to check my swing, 90 percent of the time I get called for the strike on appeal, but if I do a soft tap of the button, I usually don't get the called strike on appeal.
