    playoff roster/sept callups?

Maybe somebody who is further in their franchise can tell me.
Does the game recognize the mlb rules of playoff eligability, (on the roster by aug 31)? or do they give everyone the same rule as the Angels and F. Rodriguez (whenever you get here is fine).
on a related subject, do they let you expand your roster in sept so you can take a look at prospects?

Another thing, you should have your entire minor league roster available for spring training games.

OK Comic, you can stop whining about the F. Rodrgiuez thing. He wasn't ineligible for the postseason BECAUSE HE PITCHED IN THE POSTSEASON! Just because somebody gets injured you want them to play with only 24 people. Come on, get a clue.

no, you're wrong, if somebody's injured they can fill the 25th spot with someone else who was on the team (at some point in the season) before Aug 31. I'm not the first one to realize that mlb let this slip through.

Actually I remember Peter Gammons wrote an article about this, he was eligible for the postseason because of some loophole in the rule book.

Actually, teams can only have 25 guys thru Aug. 31 so how could 1 of the 25 be replaced by another of the 25?!? I am sure that you believe you are right and all of MLB is wrong but that is just not the case. Anyways, I still can't understand why the Giants didn't just rock him so it wouldnt have mattered...

I'm not an idiot, i realize they can only have 25 guys through aug 31. however, those are not the same 25 guys throughout the season. some guys are on the dl, others may go up and down from the minors. the rule is that to be eligable for post season you must be on the 25 man roster AT SOME POINT, before Aug 31. A perfect example is with the '85 Cardinals who had to take Jack Clark on their post season roster although he was injured they didn't have an eligable player to replace him. In other words, they didn't call up a pitcher who hadn't been on the team all year to play in the post season.
as far as the giants rocking him so it wouldn't matter, i couldn't agree more. dusty managed them right out of the ring.

On baseballamerica.com they explain the loop hole. If you have someone on your roster who is on the disabled list, you can replace him on the postseason roster w/anyone who is on your 40 man roster. They also say that he wasn't added to the 40 man roster until after that date. But according to this Rob Neyer article, he was, so it depends on who you believe, and i'm sure MLB knows more about it than anyone.
Rob believes that baseball should close the loophole that allowed the Angels to add Francisco Rodriguez to their postseason roster.
