    hitting techniques

i was curious if anyone wanted to share their hitting tecniques. i use the normal interface and starting the cursor wherever the hitter is most red (in the hot zone). of corse i try to look for a pattern with the pitcher. I almost always guess pitch location and fastball, untill i get to two strikes then i angle the interface to hit the ball to the opposite field, i think it gives you a split second longer than pulling the ball.

has anybody ever tried not tilting the bat upwards? I tilt it upwards slightly and seem to get a ton of fly balls with hardly any grounders.

how often do you guys use the power icon? of course it depends on the situation, but i try to give all the players a shot at hitting a big fly.

has anyone hit a dinger without using the power icon, i have on veteran, but not all star.

just trying to figure the best way, i want to win the series playing the season out on all star.

    Re: hitting techniques

I play on All-Star, with normal batting cursor. I hit power for Sosa, sometimes Moises Alou, Mark Bellhorn, and Hee Seop Choi, but they miss a lot. The only guy I consistently use the power cursor with is Sosa. I aim the batting cursor depending on the situation. With a lead off guy or speed guy, I found it is best to tilt the cursor very slightly up and aim it straight to center. This results in a lot of easy bloop hits. If I am in the late innings I will sometimes put the cursor down one of the lines trying to get a double. With a guy on second or third, I aim the cursor up more than usual and to the right side, to get a sac fly. And I also put the cursor where the players hit in real life, for example Corey Patterson always pulls the ball and Damian Miller always goes the opposite way. On All-Star I have hit it out of the park with the contact cursor with Damian Miller about 3 times, which is kinda surprising because he doesn't hit many home runs.

I angle it slightly upwards and to the opposite field. I only use the power cursor when I have two or more balls and less than 2 strikes. I only use the power icon with my power hitters. I hit a homerun with Jeremy Giambi without the power cursor once on Veteran. In all the others I used the power curor. I rarely, if ever, guess what the pitcher's going to throw. I only guess when I'm ahead in the count with a good contact batter, and the pitcher has 3 or less pitches to choose from.

only use power for Geoff Jenkins,Richie Sexson, and Reggie Sanders. usually i tilt the curosr towards the opposite field and hope to hit a gapper and score a run. if its Alex Sanchez up i'll try and bunt single in the 1st inning usually otherwise i won't bunt until i have a pitcher batting with 0 or 1 out. i like to suicide squeez if i have somebody on 3rd and the batter has speed. i play on veteran by the way.
