Just had my most disappointing loss ever....Blown Save!

Okay, I start a 3 game set with the BoSox. Joaquin Benoit on the hill for my Rangers. The BoSox get to me early scoring 3 runs in the 2nd inning. I respond in the 3 by scoring 1 run on an error by Nomahhhhhhh. Benoit proceeded to shut them down for the most part. I had a slim 5-4 lead when I took him out in the 7th inning. I brought in CoCo Cordero who pitched 2 scoreless innings. In the Top of the 9th, I manage to add an ensurance run. I could have added more but I stranded to runners on 2nd and 3rd. Ok, I got Ugueth Urbina warming up in the bullpen.

I bring in Urbina in the 9th to close it out. Some BoSox scrub lines out for the first out of the inning. Then Johnny Damon comes up and singles. Afterwards, the next batter hits a grounder to my 3rd baseman Herbert Perry. Perry dives for the grounder. Now when I see the grounder, I automatically think, great, turn two, game...set...match...but wait...Herb Perry has to dive for the grounder...OH NO! I immediately recognized that it was Johnny Damon going to 2nd and there was no way I was gonna get him out so what do I do, I do the next best thing and get the "sure out" at first so I fired it to first...guess what...the runner at first beats the throw.

So now the BoSox have runners at 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Up comes Nomaaahhhhhhh Garciaparra, he singles....uh oh, im in big trouble the bases are now loaded and Urbina is blowing this save right before my eyes. Next up, Manny Ramirez. I'm thinking, I can't be conservative, I have to go right after Manny and get a strike out. I leave my infield and outfield as is. No shifts. I try to make him chase and he did as he fouled of the first two pitches. I then send a slider that started inside and broke over the inside part of the plate...no...it just missed. I try to get him to chase a four-seamer just missing the outside corner of the plate. He didn't go for it. Now it's 2-2. What should I do. I decide to throw Manny a changeup low and away. Guys, Manny Ramirez crushed that change up over the Big Green Monster in left field. That's right, Manny hit a walk-off Grand Slam to win the game 8-6. I was crushed. I'm sobbing as I type this. I hate to go to bed on a loss like that.

Oh well, I'll get'em next time. This game is amazing!

Well, you know what I mean. I had to try to strike him out or walk in a run, in retrospect, that's what I should've done. I didn't want to throw him the fastball or slider. He hit a change up low and away to left field over the monster. And when I say "chase" my pitch is usually just outside the zone so it's close.

I know bro, you know I love ya....we Rangers fans gotsta stick togetha!

By the way, what about the Rangers, I'm pretty surprised how well we're playing at the moment, but somebody in the starting rotation is going to have to get under a 5.00 ERA. The starting five consists of two 5.00 ERA, two 7.00 ERA, and one 11.00 ERA. Yikes, and we're 7-9, and had Bill Buckner, oops, I mean M. Young had not let that grounder through his legs the other night, we might be 8-8. Just goes to show you, God if we had some pitching, we could be descent!

Yeah, scoring runs has never been a problem with the Rangers. I'm glad to see our young players doing so well. But to think we're 7-9 after 16 games is great.

Blalock is killing the baseball.....and I'm certain Teixeira will hit better as time goes on.
Everrett is just hitting lights out, but almost all of his hits have come against the Angels, so we'll see what he does in the next 3 games....personally I like him, everyone really got down on him through the first half of the year, but people forget that after the all star break (forget the first half) he hit over .300 with 10 bombs and 30+ RBI, and he's gotten off to that same start hitting amost .400 with 5 or 6 dingers. Excellent trade bait at the trade deadline, and if Glanville would just muster up some sack and hit over .250, I would be happy with him in the 9 spot, not lead off though.
How do you like this lineup....Infield consists of Blalock, ARod, Young, and Teixeira....and DH Palmeiro, use Everrett and Gonzo as trade bait late in the season, and maybe even Urbina. We could rebuild our outfield and get one young starting pitcher to come around for us, we're in business!
