    Will Pedro pitch this year?

I don't know if he will but I would like to see him on the mound especially for the Cubs.

The guy is still filthy. He better land a job somewhere (Florida would be a good fit).

Phillies should grab him...Then we'd have a real solid rotation:

        Hamels
        Myers
        Martinez
        Blanton
        Moyer

I just can't see a ballpark that can play small, including Houston and Chicago, to justify signing him. He works up in the zone often, and his pitches don't have the velocity they used to (though it's still great nonetheless).

He'll get offers, but it will all depend on how much money he is looking for. If his pride won't allow him to take a low salary with incentives then he won't pitch again for a Major League club.

Re: Will Pedro pitch this year?

Pedro still wants to pitch for the Mets and the Mets have basically said "Thanks, but no thanks". Until he is ready to let that go he won't play for anyone.

The Dodgers do make the most sense though. After Hiroki Kuroda and Randy Wolf every starter they are looking at is either young and inexperienced (Kershaw, McDonald, Troncoso) or coming off of injuries (Schmidt, Billingsley, Estes, Milton) Even though Pedro has had his share of injuries the last few years he would make a nice addition to the bottem of the rotation. Plus reuniting him with Manny might just get the best out of both of them.

I'd LOVE to have him back in Dodger Blue.

He should have never left. Him nor Ramon.

Considering the Angels missed out on Tex and Manny, I think they may show some intrest.

Take it back where it all started and go play for the Nats (formerly Expos).

The O's actually showed interest before deciding not to pick him up. No idea if he was asking too much, not really all that interested or what.

If he took it back to where he started, it would be LA. That was where his career began.

                            Dodgers Interested in Pedro Martinez
Posted Mar 12th 2009 12:15PM by Matt Snyder

Pedro Martinez, a 37 year-old in the twilight of his career, is still searching for big league work this season. The three-time Cy Young Award winner and eight time All-Star has been spending his time pitching for the Dominican Republic. Thanks to a rousing upset at the hands of the Netherlands, though, the Dominican is done playing.

The Mets, for obvious reasons, were continually tied to Martinez over the course of the past few weeks, but they don't want him. The Dodgers, on the other hand, seem a bit intrigued -- specifically general manager Ned Colletti.
"He's somebody we're curious about," Colletti told the Times. "We know how great he has been, and we know how popular he is in Los Angeles."
As long as the Dodgers don't mind shelling out the dough for him -- I mean, they are wasting enough on Juan Pierre, right? -- this would be a worthwhile venture. While the Netherlands offense is pretty bad, he still tossed six scoreless innings over the course of two outings against the Dutch. He only allowed one hit and struck out six batters. The Dodgers current fifth starter could be Jason Schmidt, Claudio Vargas, Shawn Estes, James McDonald, or Jeff Weaver. Considering Schmidt is probably never going to be healthy again, Pedro would seem to be the best option for 2009. He's at least worth a shot.

For a stretch from 1997-2003, you could argue there's never been a more dominant pitcher in baseball history. Seriously, compare his ERA to the league average in that stretch. Then look at strikeouts/walks/innings pitched, and then check out his won-loss record. Wow.

Anyway, it would be nice for Pedro to go full circle, I'm sure, and finish his career where it started -- not that it makes up for the atrocious 1993 trade the Dodgers made in giving him up for Delino DeShields.
                            Come back home, Pedro!

Yeah it's on espn.com right now that the Dodgers might be interested. I hope they are. We need another addition to the rotation.
