what's equally as annoying as Benitez is Art Howe's love for Roger "Super-Crap" Cedeno. This guy is horrible. He had one break out year and has completely sucked ever since. Can't field, can't hit, can't get on base......

And Art keeps playing him! Meanwhile he has two better alternatives (shinjo and timo perez) riding the bench .

I dont think its Howe as much as it is Cedeno's contract... Isnt he making like 4 or 5 mil this season... He played for Houston when I was living there, and he was really stinking up the joint..

The difference is that Contreas has pitched in about 5 games, as a long reliever. Benitez is a veteran counted on to get big outs in close games.

I think the Contreras remark was pretty bad knowledge also... Contreras has always been a starter, he just got moved to Columbus, and will get some starts in down there, and hopefully get his control back... Benitez, was a one year wonder, 4 years ago...

Anybody seen Mets games.. ? The fans constantly chant 'TIMO! TIMO!' whenever Cedeno messes up..

So basically, you hear the chant every five minutes.

Shinjo is definetly NOT a better alternative. He looks amazing in the field, but sure is a crappy hitter, even for someone in the 8 spot.

I for one am hoping the Mets subtract just about everyone on their squad, get Carlos Beltran and build around him and the young guys they've got in their system. I've been a fan since birth but the last thing I want to see is this team manage to play .500 ball through the summer and trade away their potential youth for more crappy veterans in an attempt to compete with Steinbrenner's wallet... and, oh yeah, the National League... the quicker they go to Hell the quicker they'll rebuild.

Folks talk about the Expos needing to move... how about the Mets. This contant need to compete with that team across town has made them about the saddest and most boring team in baseball. Hey, if D.C. gets the Expos, hopefully Portland can get the Mets.
