100 MPH!!!
Scary, not that he hits it, it's that he hits it consistently (compared to the elusive pitch in the past)!

Re: 100 MPH!!!
Trite and true as it is, players can hit a 100 MPH fastball. It's the command of the pitch and a good change up that he needs to become a successful pitcher. You can't just blow it by players these days without eventually facing the consequences.

Re: 100 MPH!!!
Well obviously all these factors come into play. But to hit 100MPH consistently is not small feat.
And they will obviously develop his other pitches, and he is coming along nicely. A sick mid 80's change with that kind of speed is yummy!Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: 100 MPH!!!
Bard always had great velocity and good stuff at UNC, he just struggled with his command from time to time. Never could pitch to his potential consistently. Glad to see he's doing well.Comment

Re: 100 MPH!!!
The article is misleading. I've never read any scouting reports on Bard that suggests he throws 100 mph consistently. He typically sits at 97, which is still pretty damn good, and is described as having an easy delivery. I haven't seen him pitch though, so I don't know how much life the ball has or if its fairly straight. Movement plus velocity is what dominates out of a relief pitcher. Papelbon has a nice career going throwing 99% fastballs because his late action on the fastball is hard to square-up.Comment

Re: 100 MPH!!!
100 is impressive but Stephen Strasburg, the player the Nats will undoubtedly take number one overall, can hit 103.
I can't wait to see this guy pitch.Comment

I hope that through some mircale he slips to #5, but his talent is very much worth whatever price tag he has. The Nationals would have to be braindead to pass on him.Comment
