Re: HH Has No Lefty Righty?

Rahkem, I understand that the stats for the lefty righty split appears. However, I'm talking about the player RATINGS. For example, a player may have a 67 rating for hitting. This rating is not broken down into separate ratings for lefty righty i.e. 67 v. righty, 57 v. lefty). Same when you create a player. Thus, I'm wondering if the game calculates separate ratings for each player from each side of the plate. If not, there is no ability to use strategy in decision making.

Re: HH Has No Lefty Righty?

What I am telling you is that the ratings are based on stats, basically from the last three years. In the editor, all the players have stat numbers in the categories AB, H, BB, 2B, 3B, HR, K. With these stats, they have separate batting averages, OBPs, and SLGs for facing righties and lefties. These determine the "ratings" for the players in terms of lefty vs. righty. For example, Mike Myers of the Dbacks is a lefty specialist, so in the editor he gives up a .198 avg to lefties, and a .273 average to righties. By looking at those stats you can see that he's a lot more effective vs. lefties than righties, and the gameplay will reflect this because its stats-based. Unlike WSB, which uses numbers from 0-100 to rate its players, HH uses just stats, and formulas from them to derive its ratings, so the ratings for the players, even lefty/righty splits, are "in the stats".

So it sounds as if the ratings are in the stats, which is good. However, HH does assign a separate rating to each player. These can be accessed at the player cards. They give a rating for fielding, hitting running, power, etc. The hit ratings are not broken down by lefty righty splits. Just wondering, because if you create a player, same problem. You can't assign lefty righty ratings.

Right, the scouting reports are a guideline, calculated by some formula involving the stats. For created players, ya gotta go with the DZ Editor to make them have decent lefty righty splits because the game itself does a bad job with them, the DZ Editor alone doubles the worth of the Ps2 version of this game.
