The Dodgers are offering me (Cardnials) Paul Lo Duca (86) for LaTroy Hawkins (82). First a little background.
I traded Mike Crudale to Minnesota for LaTroy Hawkins after Crudale failed his first two times out to hold a lead. My middle relief was weak and Hawkins has filled that spot perfectly. He has pitched 14 innings for me and has only allowed one earned run. I have some decent middle relief, but Hawkins is a stopper. My weakest part of the team is catcher...both are rated 57, but Mike Matheny is currently hitting .311. If I were to trade Hawkins for Lo Duca, my catcher position would go from a 57 to an 86 without giving up a starter or key position player. My fear is that I will miss Hawkins when he's gone, but getting what appears to be a great catcher for him is almost too good to pass up. Plus Matheny hitting over .300 isn't making it any easier. I know the normal thought process is to get the best player for the least amount possible and this looks like a real good deal for me, but is it really? What do you think?
