    Do catcher ratings mean anything?

I have pulled Piazza's throw strength and accuracy down to 10 each. He still throws peas to second to nail just about everyone.

I don't see any stolen bases against me when playing the cpu. I also find it extremely hard to steal...even with guys rated in 90's in speed. The catchers just throw too hard and too straight. Has anyone had any luck in changing cathcer's ratings?

Yep they do. I just figured this out. It looks like ny rating below 51 will not be any different (I think). I took two catchers from the Royals and adjusted their ratings as so:
One I changed all of the throwing rating to 39 and the other all of them to 51.

As it turns out the one with 39 ratings was nailing base stealers with ease. My guy with 51, on the other hand, let me steal basas with a lot more ease. With fast runners I stole 3 bases and was thrown out once.

So that may be it. I am going to go back and adjust all of my catchers to 51 now and see what happens across a season.

Well I simmed about 80 games without the changes and then 80 games with the changes (same games for both). What I noticed is that my players (the Royals) all had a much higher stolen base percentage than on the unchanged data. When I played games it WAS easier to steal with the settings at 51 (or around that number). Although it was still hard even with a fast runner. The CPU tried to steal on me 3 or 4 times and I threw them all out with ease (that bugs).

Anyway, this is a step in the right direction, but something I think EA will ultimatley need to fix next year. Yes stealing is easier but at the cost of crazy sim stats. Tonight I think I will sim a season just to see who has the most steals and how many (I imagine some records will be shattered)

Actually dont rate anything below 36 or above 99...

Look at when you create a player.

This is why all my catchers in my roster file have ratings between 41-50.

Stealing has become almost too easy now. Just dive head first...

I'm still playing my franchise on the original default rosters, my faster players (guzman, rivas, hunter) never get caught stealing, regardless of the catcher or the pitch that's thrown.

I don't think the catcher ratings make as much difference as they should.
