Sorry to be rude, but do you guys f*cking know what potential means? For example, I'm sure that you guys think a rated 38 guy with A potential would gain 40 more OVR rating points after the season... WRONG!!! First of all, that so-called "A" is an EXPECTED potential rating, rated by your scout. If your scout has good ratings, he will rate accurate potential ratings, vice versa.

Second of all, Potential doesn't mean in two weeks, or one month, or one year, or 5 years 3 months and 38 days! It means about 10 years or so. Just look at Bonds... started out his career at about a 64, but 16 years later, he became an A+ player. In 2000 he was about an A-. Potential means what they are capable of becoming later in their career, not in one year.

Glad I could clear that out... and hopefully you listened (or read rather).

just because the player has a A+ potential rating doesn't mean he will become an A+ player, if it's a pitcher and he goes 4-11, he's not gonna jump 10 points like someone who won 20 games, it all depends on how well the person performs that season and each season afterwards, he won't jump to an All-Star in one year, it takes quite a while

They progress in the minors. Why else would they give you an ETA til they're ready for the majors?

actually i was talking about career. meaning, most ive seen is 8 OVR over the course of his career. and it doesnt matter what ur scout says, u can see his real potential in the setup rosters menu.

The progression is completely random. In my Braves dynasty, before I saved over it , I simmed to the end of the season once and set things up for the next year. Marcus Giles had improved to a 74 rtg. up from about mid 60s. Rafeal Furcal lost a point, his rtg. was now 70. I didn't save it though. Then when I completed the year, Giles was only a 69 rtg. The player progression is completely random. I went 22-3 with Russ Ortiz and won the Cy Young. Entering the next season his rating was exactly the same (78). Player improvement is completely random.

No it's not. Remember, a record doesn't mean he pitched well. He could've won games where he still gave up 8 runs and 17 hits in all of the games. To me, wins and losses doesn't matter in a pitcher's record, his other stats do. Maybe he didn't strike out many people, or maybe he walked too many. You catching my drift?

Remember, there is no attribute for Wins or Losses ratings, but there are for averages, homeruns, strikeouts, etc. Depending on how he did there will depend on how his individual attributes will change, which depends on how his OVR rating will change.

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> yeah but how old is Russ Ortiz? he's not going to improve too much, if you notice after age 29 or 30 there is no more ratings given to improvement, ,a,b,c, etc.
