Right now she is 0-3, but I'll tell you one thing. She is getting much better!!! My team is 1-1 (we had to play one of her games because of scheduling), and the loss is because the other night I was winning 7-2 in the top of the 9th inning at Cincinnati. I thought for sure I would have the game wrapped up. On her first hitter my pitcher fumbled a grounder back to the mound and I couldn't get it to first in time. It was all down-hill after that. I couldn't stop her.
Here she is, constantly swinging at down and away pitches, and the nasty curveball I like to throw inside. Believe me, with the vibration mode turned on, it can make for a challenge (the other person thinks you are throwing one on the edge of the strike zone, but you can easily groove it or throw it away at the last second). Anyhow, she would *not* swing at bad pitches in that inning! I was getting nervous, and rightfully so

She was all smiles after I couldn't mount any comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs, she said "I feel pretty comfortable I'm going to win this game". Right now it's easy to make her have that one or two bad innings per game, by bunting and stealing like crazy. That throws her off. She's getting much better, now that she is figuring out who her best hitters and pitchers are. I knew, though, that she had this one in the bag. It was a humbling loss, to say the least, and I use that win of hers to keep her spirits up when I am on a roll.
Of course, I won the next game 16-1, it was a blast taking revenge and watching every little blooper just fall in the right place, and her making silly fielding mistakes (like throwing to third base when there is one out and she should go for the double play). I still help her out by saying "this guy (my hitter) is a really good hitter, you may want to walk him in this siutation and go for the force out at home or the double play".
Three games into the season, her Cardinals are hitting .253, which is OK, but her pitching is horrendous (she's still learning how to mix pitches and speeds and locations), the Cardinals are last in the league with a 9.74 ERA.
My Reds are leading the league in hitting (if only they could come close to that in real life) at .400+ and my ERA is 8th or 9th best with a 4.53 clip.
With her getting better at pitching, holding runners on and reacting quicker to stolen base attempts she's going to be very competitive. With her learning to lay off the inside curveball, or any pitch that I am using a lot, she is going to turn things around offensively speaking.
I just want to say that I'm very lucky to have a wife that likes playing video games, and is interested in sports, and that this WSB2K3 game sucks IMO when playing a season against the AI, but is incredible when playing someone else.
