Listed below are some of the ideas that my research has compiled. These were the most requested:
Outside views of the Stadium during pregame. (for instance...in St. Louis, there are statues of many famous Cardinal players including a large statue of Stan Musial near Gate 6 and 7.)
More detail to the inside of the stadium. Down to the small nuances of stadiums that make them unique.
Replays of games earlier in the day something like a daily wrap-up with an ESPN type flavor. This could also be used if a person is getting close to 3000 hits, 500 Home Runs, people with long hitting streaks, great pitching performances, ect. I just believe that this would add to the feel of an actual broadcast of a game that the gamer controls.
Different camera angles especially a more accurate;Broadcast angle. This could be several camera shots that actually look like the game could be a broadcast rather than just a video game. Again, this falls into the realism factor that several of the gamers I polled were asking for.
Weather/Time changes (a cloudy day could cause rain; a calm day could become windy. Dusk games turns to night or if the game is long...a day game could go into the twilight or even night, just by using the start time on the schedule should make this easy to accomplish)
On cold days, players are seen wearing long sleeves, on hot days, they have short sleeves.
More of an audience depending on gameplay. If a team was playing poorly, the crowd would be sparse and quiet....but if they were playing well...it would be jam packed and loud. Just by checking attendance for teams for this year, this should give you an idea of how to insert or delete crowd at certain times.
Feature where you could move an existing team to another city...build a new stadium (also have team play in an existing stadium in that city until stadium is built...i.e....move to New Orleans...play in Superdome for two years until new stadium is completed). Also choose what type of stadium and location (downtown, suburbs, rural) Name new team and create new uniforms. (have pre-selected names and uniforms, but allow player to change selections to fit their own tastes)
Make stadiums realistic as far as stats go (more in the simulation mode)
Hire and Fire managers, pitching coaches, coaches, scouts, ect...use some real personnel...(for instance...Cubs hire Joe Torre after he's fired from Yankees...or Brewers sign Willie Randolph or Jose Oquendo for managerial job. Maybe use this as part of a GM/Owners mode)
For Expansion Teams, allow computer to retire the numbers of the best players on the team.
More accurate Hall of Fame (last night Rafael Palmeiro was inducted in the Hall of Fame as a Devil Ray. Computer traded for him in '03. Just don't think that works.
Create alternate jerseys for teams and the ability to alter their existing jerseys (possibly make this a hidden "card")
Create stadiums for teams without moving them to new city. For instance, if a team is in dire need of a stadium or are in talks of getting a new stadium, we, as fans, should be able to keep up with the changes.
Also, we would like it that you use the deadlines that Major League Baseball uses. For example...the September 1st call-up date where the rosters expand to 40 instead of 25. And in late August, teams in contention must issue their playoff roster with a list of alternates in case of injury. August 31st trading deadline where a player doesn't have to pass waivers and is allowed to be considered for the post season. Any trade after Aug 31..the player must clear waivers and would not be available for post season. Also, once a team reaches the playoffs...after every round the player and team are given the opportunity to alter the roster based on the alternates the team has given the commissioner. You've kind of done that now...but if you could go a step further...that wold really add more realism and enjoyment out of the game
