    What happened to force outs?

There have been several times when there are 0 outs, a man on first, I hit a grounder, and the shortstop throws the ball to first. The guy who hit the ball is out ... the other guy who was on first stays on first base.

    And the play is over...

The cpu should be throwing to second for the double play..?

    Anyone?

Are you sure it wasn't a line drive catch and the fielder was trying to double the guy off at first?

That's not true. Since you threw to first(instead of second) the force out at second is gone. The runner who was on first is not required to go anywhere, so the play is over.

I never knew that the guy could stay at first? It was not a line drive out. It was a grounder.

Yep, doesn't matter if it is a grounder. If you get the batter out first that takes the force off of second, therefore the runner on first doesnnot have to make it to second. What doesn't make since is that the runner would not go to second when the grounder was hit. If he did there still would not be a force at second and you would have to tag him.
