How does everyone else feel? I gotta wonder, with the Padres in full on rebuilding mode, can anyone see him being moved? I know he's still young, but he would probably land a load of talent if he were moved, and at this point, the Padres have holes in quite a few spots.

If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...
...how good would he be considered? I'm talking mass media. Anyone who knows baseball knows he's a great all around player, but outside of hardcore fans and west coasters, he doesn't seem to be well known at all. Frankly, I consider him a top 5-10 position player in the league, especially given the stadium he plays in. To put up 35-120 in Petco with that horrible of a lineup around him speaks volumes to his talent as a hitter. But when you factor in his defense, he doesn't trail Pujols by all that much in terms of best first baseman. In my little pipedream world, I drool at the thought of A-Gon coming to the Red Sox to play first when Lowell is gone and moving Youk over to third. Pipedream I know, but hey

Re: If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...
On top of this and the recent Jake Peavy to Milwaukee rumor, we must be the only 5-2 team in these types of trade talks.
Adrian Gonzalez might be moved eventually if Kyle Blanks stays at first. -
Re: If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...
What type of player does Blanks project to be? Heard the name before, but i'm not all too familiar with some of the prospects on the West Coast outside of Bumgarner and Posey.Comment

Well hey, might as well take the wins before you guys hit the full on rebuilding mode, if you aren't already there

He raked in spring training in place of Adrian while Adrian was participating in the WBC.Comment

Re: If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...
Adrian is an outstanding player. To put up those numbers with THAT lineup in THAT ballpark, he's directly behind Albert in my opinion. No one touches Albert, he's in a league of his own, but Adrian is one of the next closest.Comment

Re: If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...
If you put Adrian into a better team, and a more friendly ball park, he would hit close to 40 HR, and 120 RBI per year with a BA around .295. Within his position, there are few better players. Yes, I'll admit that I am somewhat biased, but those numbers aren't that big of a reach if you look at his current stats.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

I always liked him. Any team without a top hitting first baseman would be blessed to have him."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...
One problem your forgetting somebody named Miguel Cabrera. Miggy IMO is the second best hitter in baseball behind Albert. At this point Miggy is really not to far behind Albert. Adrian is a very good hitter though. My Teams

Re: If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...
I was listening to some guy on ESPN Radio who used to cover the Red Sox. He seems to think the Sox will be willing to grab Gonzalez as the team just isn't the same without Manny. The guy believes that Gonzalez will put up bigger HR numbers in Fenway since all his power is mitigated by playing in Petco.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
