Yes. He was solid in triple-a both of those seasons, but when he was called up he couldn't hit anything even in a hitter friendly ballpark.

Never heard of a rookie struggling off of good major league pitching before? Nothing new. It was obvious he had huge potential, he just struggled when he was called up. Plenty of stars have stumbled out of the gates during their rookie campaigns.

I didn't post to start a debate. More of me being an upset Rangers fan tired of seeing players get traded away and then turning into All-Stars.

Well at least you fleeced the Blue Jays years ago when you guys got Michael Young. If Gord Ash could've done that trade over again I don't think he would've given up Young for crappy Esteban Loaizia

Chris Young and Gonzo for a few guys that aren't even in Texas anymore. I like that trade a whole bunch.

In a year or two I could see it with Lowell gone and with a possible move for Youk to third base. One can hope.
I don't see it happening at all. I do think Youkilis will be at 3B as early as next season but it will be Lars Andersen at 1B.

To be fair, you guys did have Mark Teixeira blocking first. Adrian DH'ing would be a huge waste of his defense.

Valid point, but given the choice, who would you rather have? I really do want to see how Lars can perform, but if a potential trade for A-Gon would be in the works, I can't say I wouldn't be damn excited, even if it meant Lars being a part of the deal, which in all likelihood he would be.

Now trust me, with our track record of great homegrown players, i'm sure Lars will be a good major leaguer if nothing else. But the opportunity to have not only a guy that could go .300 40 120 in Fenway, but to have one of the best fielding duos of corner infielders in the league, is too good to pass up.

Re: If Adrian Gonzalez played in a bigger market...

I think Adrian Gonzalez is a better defender at 1B than Pujols.
Out of Petco he would absolutely mash the ball as well.
I dont really think he would suit Boston though because hes a lefty they arent that good hitting in Fenway(With the exception of Ortiz)which brings me to my next point its preferable to have a 4 hitter who is right handed when Ortiz is hitting 3(Like Manny was)I think it provides a better lineup.
If the Sox go after any slugging 1B I think itll involve a trade for Miguel Carbera(Should the Tigers struggle)maybe trade Lars Andersen & Clay Bucholz & Justin Masterson for Miguel Carbrera?

                        I'd like to see Adrian change teams...off of my head the teams I'd like him to go to are;
Mets;F-Mart, Niese & Evans and maybe another pitching prospect.
Angels;Wood, Morales, 2 SP prospects and Reggie Willits.
Orioles;Trade some of their pitching prospects, one of their young OF(I'm guessing Pie) and Aubrey Huff(With his contract paid for)
I'd also like to see him go to Toronto...but cant really figure out a trade.

But yeah he'd go to being a superstar overnight if he left San Diego...or San Diego decided to build a team to win...but I think its more likely he leaves along with Peavy.

I think Ortiz's best years are behind him. I wouldn't consider him to be solid, but not spectacular. Injuries have taken their toll on him.

Take the proven star over the up and coming minor leaguer. How many sure things come out and suck. I would trade for Gonzo in a heartbeat if I were Boston. Gonzo wouldn't have an issue hitting in Boston. Look at his shot in Citi to the deepest part of the ballpark.

Being one of the best opposite field hitters, he'd probably hit a lot of his homeruns over the green monster in left.

Imagine if he played at Citizens Bank; day in, day out.
He's a superstar waiting to happen, with the Red Sox in need of another 'big bat', he could be in Boston by July.

San Diego is not trading Gonzalez. Peavy is as good as gone, but the rumors of SD moving him to Boston are ridiculous.
