Actually, I have a hard time believing anyone could be that sadistic in his or her thinking. Since this is a thread to mourn the death of someone who died too young, please get your attention-seeking BS out of here out of respect for the deceased. Thank you.

    RIP Bird.

      It's just tacky.
      A human being died.

I'm sure you meant no actual harm, but you really shouldn't poke fun on a public forum in this instance ... because while you're probably right that a lot of guys like this type of humour, many find it offensive.

      Again, someone died.

It was a stupid joke in the first place, even without the grizzly connotations.

Inappropriate for this forum? Probably. But I thought it was pretty funny.

I'm wondering if, say, you posted something about one of your loved ones on here, or any forum for that matter, about them dying in a tragic way and someone made that comment. I wonder if you would find it funny?? For some reason, I doubt you would.

You're making the connection between those two posts, not me. I purposely didn't quote his post because I wanted to avoid that, but I guess I could have been more clear. My LOL was just chuckling about the Fun Police coming out in full force.

Actually, if the circumstances were the same, once I got over the initial grief, I probably would. Life's too short to take everything so seriously...

Wow!! That's heavy duty right there. Any man who could make a joke about their dad or brother dying in a tragic way is more of a man than me, I guess.

Furthermore, I've read a lot of crazy things on message boards over the years, but I think this takes the proverbial cake. Saying you probably would laugh at a joke like that because life's too short to take seriously is about the craziest thing I have ever heard. On top of that, it's a lie, you wouldnt laugh.

If someone made that joke about my dad after he died wouldn't get laughter from me, they would get the nearest thing I could find upside their head.....but that's just me.

                      Several points:

                      1) I didn't say I would make the joke about my own loved one(s). I said that given time to get over the initial grief, I could see how it was funny if somebody else said it.
                      2) Obviously I couldn't say with 100% certainty until I was actually in the situation, but my previous post was not a lie.
                      3) There's a difference between my original post and saying "I'm glad he's dead," but a lot of people here can't seem to make that distinction.
                      4) I still maintain -- and Brandon13's post verifies it to a certain extent -- that I'm not the only one who would find that funny. It's not meant to be side-splittingly funny, but I'm sure some people who read it shook their heads and chuckled a bit.
                      5) That's the craziest you've ever heard?!? Really? Wow.

Anyways, this discussion is fairly pointless. We have different points of view and they're not going to change. That's life. The mods should just lock this thread at this point.

Your right about that. You have absolutely wrecked this thread.

Yea, I believe it is. I don't think anything could trump someone saying they would laugh at a joke about one of their loved ones dying.

You must either be real young, or you've been lucky enough to not have anyone who meant something to you pass away. Reason I say that is, there is just no way you could say that you would find humor in the something like that.

Anyway, I'm done with this. And good luck btw.......I hope you never have to go through what Mark Fidrych's family is going through right now.

I'm not young (33), I have had people close to me pass away and I can find humor in anything, including death.

Look, everybody dies sometime, somehow. Are you telling me you've never heard jokes about Elvis dying on the toilet, or Sonny Bono running into a tree?

Laughing is part of what makes life worth living. We're talking about a guy who used to talk to baseballs, for crying out loud. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't take everything so seriously. I feel bad for you that you're either so PC or so repressed (or both) that you can't see that.
