Debating on joining up.......
I've been thinking of buying WSB2k3. But the only thing I am worried about is accurate stats. When I say that I mean I would like them to be realistic. With these "Slider" options, could I make it harder for me to get hits, and the CPU alot tougher to beat? I hate it in Baseball games when I crush the CPU. It just doesn't make it any fun. Have all of gotten fairly accurate stats playing WSB2k3? I just don't want it to be homer or extra base hit happy. And finally, I was wondering if you can draw walks in the game?Tags: None -
Re: Debating on joining up.......
I draw a couple of walks a game. But you need to be patient and use the right sliders. If you swing at every first pitch, you are not going to walk a lot. This game is certaintly not the home-run fest that Triple Play was. My stats in my current franchise couldn't be more realistic:
In the last week of the franchise...
Tejada .330/29/100
Chavez .303/40/120
Zito 22-6/2.98
Mulder 17-7/3.30
Hudson 16-8/3.98 -

Re: Debating on joining up.......
I think when you see all these posts about sliders, it's VERY deceiving... This is by no means like Triple Play where Richard hidalgo will hit 60 homeruns under the control of the CPU..
IMO, I think this is a pretty accurate game (with exceptions of injuries, they are too frequent and too harsh) I can normally draw 2-3 walks a game, I can normally K a few people, have gone double digits a few times... I tend to like to get the groundball outs myself though.
It's beyond me why anyone wants EXACT stats from your players and/or team. What's the fun in carrying out a season that mirrors what happened last season in real life or an average of the last three seasons?Comment

Re: Debating on joining up.......
I had another question I forgot to put in, can the CPU draw walks off you when you are pitching?
And does the Catcher throw back the ball when the pitcher throws it?Comment

Re: Debating on joining up.......
the cpu can draw walks off you, but again, it depends on your sliders ... one of the drawbacks is the catcher cannot throw except on steals ... in other words, you cannot throw back to the pitcher after pitches and you cannot try to pick off a runner off any bases ... a slight drawback, but maybe something the sega folks can work on for next year ...Comment
