Could Pedro Martinez have a home sooner than later?
The question with Martinez remains his price — at least $5 million for a one-year deal, sources say. The Dodgers, among other clubs, have maintained that they are not interested in Martinez at that level.

I don't understand Pedro at all. He's screaming for more money then he's worth and that's anathema in these harsh economic times. I heard the Dodgers offered Pedro a very nice contract with a ton of incentives which would put it up to the 5 mil that he wants and he still turned them down.
The guy is barely a 5 to 6 inning starter these days.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Could Pedro Martinez have a home sooner than later?
The two best options for Pedro at this point being the Dodgers and the Angels might soon become just the Dodgers. Paul Byrd has decided he is ready to come back and has had his agent telling teams that he would be ready to pitch in the big leagues in a couple of weeks after signing has said he would like to return to the Angels where he pitched in 2005.
Byrd makes a lot of sense for the Angels given their rash of injuries to their starting rotation. If Pedro does not end up with the Dodgers he may spend a lot of time by the phone waiting to see if the Mets or Yankees get desperate.Comment

The truth is. Pedro can still get it done well enough when he's healthy. He knows it and other teams know it. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get at or close to what he's asking when a team gets thin in the rotation down the stretch (which is a virtual certainty for at least one team each year).
I'm not saying I'd spend on him...lol...(or even that he's the best option out there. He's not) but I can see why he's pushing for it.Comment
